My thoughts about week 3 of “one cane a day” challenge - this time I practiced bullseye canes. I ended up with 7 combined canes and couple left over bullseye simple canes.
My goal was to see what can be done with the basic canes. This challenge was mostly for myself since there are so many wonderful artists who share their experience and offer free tutorials how to utilise bullseye…so here what I can share that may be of value:
🎯 watch as many videos from Donna Kato, Teresa Salgado, Fiona Abel-Smith, Jan Montarsi, to mention a few. They are graciously share their experiences and there is so much to learn how to combine colours and blends. But then set aside a week and do nothing but caning. You will learn a lot more by just doing it
🎯The hardest part is to see beyond the bullseye (at least it was for me). When you make the blend and look at it - what can you actually do with it? Sketching the end product will help a lot.
🎯 Amy Sutryn gave great suggestion - look at your canes during the process and after combining them together in Black and White - it will help to see the color values

So all in all that was the hardest week yet. The simplest things turned to be the hardest for me. If any of you attempt to make bullseye combinations - please come here on on my page to share your experience. Was it as hard for you as it was for me? What was the biggest revelation you had while caning? What else could I have done this week? Let me know.

Next week challenge will be “things and textures” - let’s see how much I will learn then
