Hey guys, Jake here
Our final show has been played, our goodbyes have been said, and Don’t Cross The Streams has come to an end. And with that, an official statement is in order.
I was a part of this band since I was 18. We were friends, drinking buddies, confidants, and dreamers. That’s the dynamic that’s always held DCTS together and it ended with the same love and brotherhood that it started with. Members came and went, drama sparked and sizzled, but this was never anything but a passion project and we simply grew into new passions. With heavy hearts, we had to accept that our time had come and spend one last day with our friends and supporters.
Without you guys, this would never be anything but a hobby to any of us. But your relentless support and incredible, genuine friendships made every dollar spent and every show played worthwhile. I can’t imagine being in another band without the level of love we’ve received for my 4 years with this group and I feel like I speak for the rest of my brothers. I saw this group for the first time in a tiny event hall and wound up playing huge shows all around the East Coast with nothing but determination and a vision. Watching this band grow, and being a part of it, is more humbling than I can even explain. And we didn’t do s**t, YOU did. You gave some goofy nerds a chance and refused to let us be mediocre; we only ever worked to give you the best we were capable of. Regardless of anything, our supporters never got anything but the best we could offer since the beginning.
Thank you for bringing out the best in all of us.
Now, to our past members and the original line-up I had the pleasure of being friends with, thank you so much for being a part of this. This would not exist without your hard work and love. I have nothing but respect and admiration for you guys, and I miss you all deeply. It’s an honor and a privilege to take something this real and amazing and put the work in that I did. This is your creation, this is your baby, and I think it turned into something awesome. You deserve as much credit as any of us do. We played the old tunes until the very last show, and 6 years of longevity isn’t too shabby. I hope you’re as proud of where this band went as I am.
We will see you all again, and we will carry our love and passion with us wherever we go. Laying this band to rest has been incredibly hard for all of us, but the book is simply changing chapters. Even though I’ve spent the last 3 or so years screaming at all of you, I truly love you all and need to thank you for making me feel like I’m more than just some poor kid from New Hampshire. With all the mosh pits, walls of death, group vocals, and hugs, I spent a lot of time in this band feeling larger than life for brief moments and I wouldn’t change a god damn thing about any of it.
To my brothers Thibeault, Bixby, Clint, and Kendel; thank you for this opportunity and your friendship. Things weren’t easy or fun all the time, but man, we had so much fun and did so many great things. I love every single one of you for many different reasons, and I couldn’t imagine sharing this experience with anybody but you guys. I’ve never met a more dedicated and wonderful group of people. Even if Insidious should have won, we did. We did a lot of things we shouldn’t have been able to do, and did it at least fu***ng twice. I’m honored to have done it all with you boys.
With this, I’m putting a big post out there just to say goodbye to my favorite thing in the world. The pictures below are a very brief retrospective on our history; every moment surrounding these pictures is this group laughing and feeling “cool” for doing what we love in our own way. And to whoever’s still reading, thank you for being a part of all of this. Go on and do something you love. You don’t have to be super successful to feel larger than life, just passionate. We hope we can leave you with that impression.
“We use to be Don’t Cross The Streams. Thank you.”
