Meet Miss Piggy 🐢💚

And yes… her name is VERY appropriate.

Miss Piggy is a woman who knows what she wants, and usually, what she wants is worms. 🪱 Nightcrawlers, mealworms-hers, yours, her neighbor’s… she’s not picky. Once she knows food is around, she is on a mission.

Most likely to: ask if you’re going to finish that. 👀

Miss Piggy is one of the six Eastern Box Turtles currently in our care as they prepare for their eventual return to the wild at Gorman Heritage Farm. And you can be part of her journey!

🐢 Sponsor Miss Piggy for $75 and receive updates, photos, and videos as she progresses through rehabilitation, release, and monitoring after her return to the wild.

Not ready for a full sponsorship? That’s okay! Our GoFundMe allows you to contribute any amount toward the care and release of these turtles. Every contribution helps support their journey back to the wild. 💚

Want to sponsor Miss Piggy? Send us a DM!

Meet the newest creepy crawlie at Dino Buddies! 🦂🖤

Our ambassador crew just got a little more spooky with the addition of an Asian forest scorpion and this one has a pretty incredible trick.

Turn on a black light and… it glows! 💡🦂

Asian Forest Scorpions fluoresce under ultraviolet light thanks to compounds in their exoskeleton, creating the bright blue-green glow you can see in the video. Just one of the many adaptations that makes these arachnids so fascinating!

And with Halloween right around the corner, we couldn’t think of a better time to introduce our newest creepy crawlie. 🎃

Want to meet some of our creepy crawlies in person? Join us for Spooky Sips & Scales:

🎃 October 31 | 1–3 PM
📍 Braxton Barrel House | Fort Mitchell, KY

Come spend Halloween with Dino Buddies and see who we bring along! 🐍🕷️🦂

Things that just make sense when you run Dino Buddies out of your home… 🦖🐍

Eventually, Dino Buddies supplies start taking over EVERYTHING.

Storage? Dino Buddies.
Extra space? Dino Buddies.
The outside fridge meant for the human staff?

500 worms. 🪱😂

When you have this many animal ambassadors to care for, apparently no part of the house is safe.

Just another behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep Dino Buddies running!

We now interrupt your doomscrolling to bring you… Eastern Box Turtles. 🐢💚

That’s it. That’s the post.

Our turtles are continuing their rehabilitation journey as they prepare for their eventual return to the wild. But today, their only job is to make your feed a little better. 🌿

Enjoy your regularly scheduled turtle break. 🐢✨

What’s Rex watching for? Probably dinner. 👀🪱

You can often find his little face peeking out from underneath his water bowl, keeping an eye on what’s happening around him, especially when there’s a chance food might be involved!

And don’t let the hiding spot fool you. As Stephanie explains, Rex is actually a pretty bold little guy with some very specific opinions about what he does and doesn’t like to eat. 😂

Rex is a Tiger Salamander, an amphibian species that spends much of its life on land and often tucked away underground where conditions stay cool and moist.

Tiger salamanders are carnivores that naturally eat insects, worms, and other small prey. 🐛 Like any animal, though, individuals can have their own preferences and Rex certainly has his!

Listen in as Stephanie tells you more about Rex, his personality, and what’s on his preferred menu. 💛
