Tartuffe Or The Charlatan
Stars and Garters
Highly Recommend

This is my first time seeing Tartuffe. It had a very Gothic Feel to me. I loved everything about this: the cast, the story, the staging.

Looking forward to seeing new interpretations of this work.

The Conspirators will present TARTUFFE, OR, THE CHARLATAN by Molière at Stars & Garters in Chicago from May 8 through June 7. Directed by Wm. Bullion.

Eelpout!

It started off with unspoken attractions and revulsions then became a little too fantastical for me. The cast was solid but script needed work. Just not my cup of tea.

Chicago Gay Men's Chorus: Cher the Love
Harris Theater
Recommend

They really did something from every era in Cher's discography.

There were also a lot of front of stage performers who were amazing like the two gentlemen who did the Peter Cetera duet, After All.

My one nitpick about the show if you're going to be Cher in drag either do it right or don't do it at all is all I'm going to say. Half were hits and half were misses.

While not a huge Monty Python, I surprisingly really enjoyed this show.

Always Look On the Bright Side of Life has been added to my list of favorite show tunes.

Joe Jackson
Park West
Recommend

Discovered Joe from a Tori Amos cover of Real Men. I've been consuming his catalogue since. He's a chameleon as you never know what the next record is going to sound like.

Was a nice mix of the new album Hope and Fury and the hits. He was in good form that night.

David Sedaris
Auditorium Theater
Highly Recommend

Been a fan since the Santa Land Diaries. He has such a distinct point of view. The work of his that I resonate with are the stories about his parents and 5 siblings. He's also a great observationist.

He was here promoting his new collection. With his distinct voice, sometimes I'm hearing his stuff for the first despite having already read it.

Bitingly dry satire from the king of laconic storytelling David Sedaris at the Auditorium Theatre Chicago, IL. Finished May 17

Going Bacharach
Apollo Theater
Highly Recommend

He was widely regarded as one of the most important and influential figures of 20th-century popular music.

Dionne Warwick was his muse from1961 to 1972. Dusty Springfield, The Carpenters, BJ Thomas, Tom Jones plus many others have recorded and or had hits with Bacharach/David compositions.

This show was like a walk down memory lane of my childhood.

All the singers were top notch. One was part of Bachrach's touring band for 20+ years.

I'd probably give you a different answer every time, but today, my top 3 favorites are: What the World Needs Now Is Love, Anyone Who Had a Heart, and God Give Me Strength

Devil Wears Prada 2
AMC
Highly Recommend,

It is very rare for a sequel to happen 20 years after the first one let alone be as good as the first one.

Meryl, Anne, Stanly, and Emily are back and in rare form.

The plot came from the real world as most magazines are online only now with very few still having print editions.

That's all
