Remember Who You Are: 📝🧵
Just because it’s not posted doesn’t make it any less real. The more we share of us the more people feel entitled to having access to us at an increased intimate level. And not everyone deserves those parts of us. As we know news travels fast, especially when it’s bad news, (an area we seriously need to improve in universally,) and because of this there are things we often have to get ahead of in order to control our own narratives.
Nevertheless, I would encourage you to share less and protect more where you can. Everyone doesn’t need to know everything, and just because you’re not posting about it doesn’t make it any less real. It makes you HUMAN.
We are not meant to take in so much of the trauma and drama that we do daily nor should we spread it at such an inhumane speed. We live in a time where we aren’t even allowed to process grief, pain, life-altering experiences or even joy before we have to post about it. I know far too well about the mental gymnastics one has to go through during crisis, especially when you are a part of a public family like mine, just to ensure the wrong information doesn’t float around.
We live in a society where so many feel obligated to be “in the know” just so that they can spread what they think they know quicker than they found out about it. We are living in inhumane and robotic times, forgetting that the most important parts of this human experience are CONNECTION, COMPASSION, UNDERSTANDING and LOVE.
We have to do better by each other and ourselves. The next moment you’re so quick to post about something you haven’t even had the chance to process yet, take a moment to be human. And as a collective, if you’ve been privileged to find out something before the public has, and you’re wondering why it hasn’t been posted yet, that doesn’t appoint you as the social media spokesperson. Give people TIME because you’ll be over it and onto the next thing later tonight, but from what you’ve already moved past, there are people whose whole worlds won’t ever be the same for the rest of their lives.
Today is a great day to REMEMBER WHO WE ARE and RECONNECT WITH OUR HUMANITY. What we have normalized as a society is extremely detrimental in relation to our preservation as a species. WAKE UP!!
Go outside today. Keep your phone tucked away. Touch grass. Make eye contact with another human and actually SPEAK. Some of you don’t even have to go outside of your home because you might just need to go into the next room and have a real conversation with your loved ones without any electronic devices involved. If only for a moment.
Let’s be INTENTIONAL to not allow ourselves to continue to get swallowed up by this digital age.
We are so much more than these miniature computers. We are the brains behind them.
Remember who you are.
Love, Peace & LIGHT!
