Illinois Hearing Voices Network

Illinois Hearing Voices Network If you’d like to learn more about the movement, or how to become involved, please reach out and connect with our growing community in Chicagoland!

Chicago Hearing Voices is a community-based non-profit with the goals of promoting peer support, organizing trainings & workshops, collaborating with researchers, and changing cultural attitudes about voices and psychosis. Illinois Hearing Voices Network (originally Chicago Hearing Voices) was formed by a group of local voice hearers, service users, family members, clinicians, and researchers, all

interested in promoting the Hearing Voices movement in urban and suburban Chicago. In addition to organizing events and workshops we hope to facilitate the development of local Hearing Voices groups, and to provide additional resources and ongoing support for anyone who would like to be involved in the movement. Although the name “Hearing Voices” might imply an exclusive focus on voice hearing, we aim to fully include other experiences that are often labelled psychotic, including unusual thoughts and feelings, and unusual experiences involving other senses; vision, touch, smell, and taste. In line with the international Hearing Voices movement, our emphasis is on approaching such experiences as intrinsically meaningful and often connected to an individuals life events and histories.
