Chekhov Studio Chicago is a place of training and discovery for actors to embrace all the possibilities of the art of the actor. Our method for this creative process is the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique. The goal of all our workshops and classes is to enable actors to make a rich connection to their talent and their art. Whatever stage you are at in your acting, you will find your acting supported by the workshops and coaching of the Studio as you prepare for the experiences of your career.
The Moving Dock Theatre Company is built on the foundation of the Studio. The Moving Dock Ensemble, past, present, and future, flows out from the vital creative impetus of the Studio and the Chekhov approach.
Moving Dock Theatre Company has brought its audiences a unique roster of ensemble-created works, where the artistic process of exploring the inner movement of human experience gives audiences new insights into the actor’s art, and exposure to new works of the imagination and the human soul.
Artistic Director, Dawn Arnold, is a teaching artist and coach specializing in the Chekhov Technique. She is an actress and director who uses the power of this approach to bring actors to their best performing.
Chekhov Studio Chicago reaches beyond the Chicago area, bringing workshops and residencies in the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique to high schools, colleges, universities, and theatre companies across the country.
