Maria Tate (they/them) recently returned to the US after spending two years with the internationally recognized Phare Ponleu Selpak Association, home of Phare The Cambodian Circus. During their time in Cambodia Maria directed, produced and choreographed a world premiere circus for Phare, toured Cambodia with Circo Inzir, led a tour and performed with Spark! Maria is a member of the Professional Training Program at Aloft Circus Arts, where they also coach kids' classes. Once an elementary music teacher, Maria has been teaching music, dance, circus and theatre to kids since they were 13 and assisted with their little sister's ballet class, dressed up as a baby elephant. Maria's other skills include clowning, choreography, opera, ballet, contemporary dance and reading too way many books at the same time. Shelley Miller (they/them) is a Chicago-based singer/songwriter, educator and circus artist. They're a full-time faculty member at the Old Town School of Folk Music, where they teach guitar, ukulele, songwriting and ensembles. As a musician, they've performed at venues and festivals throughout the US and released 6 albums of original music. As a mover, they've performed at Aloft Circus Arts, in Visceral Dance's Encore program and as a member of Volume Dance Company. They're a graduate of Breathe for Change's 200 Hour Mindfulness, Yoga and Social Emotional Learning Teacher Training Program and a recipient of Old Town School's Distinguished Teacher award. Shelley is also a devoted plant mom, cat dad, cyclist and also REALLY loves tacos.

Thanks to all the new friends we've met at Transilience Fest, Lake County Pride and through Chicago Park District Night Out In The Parks! We're so happy to have you join us on our great adventure!

For the folks just joining us, we are Shelley Miller ( they/them - Shelley Miller ) and Maria Tate ( they/them - Maria Tate ), two non-binary musicians and circus artists currently based in Chicago on Odawa, Ojibwe and Potawatomie land.

The Amazing Adventures of 2NBs is a 25 minute q***r musical circus show for kids that explores themes of friendship, change and individuality. The show features juggling, dance, acro, clowning and original live music in English and Spanish.

We have 2 more free Night Out in the Parks shows coming up in August - downtown at Lake Shore Park Aug 14 and in Logan Square at de Burgos Park Aug 15. We'll also be doing 3 slightly shorter performances during the Elgin Fringe Festival September 25-27.

Both of us are also solo performers in a variety of disciplines--Shelley performs music (for grown ups and kids) and aerial and teaches music; Maria is an aerialist, birthday party clown, juggler face painter and balloon artist and teaches circus. Both of us are students in Aloft Circus Arts Professional Training Program.

We'd love to see you at an upcoming show! We're also very interested in bringing this show to schools, libraries and youth groups around the Chicago area in the next year. If your group (or a group you know of) is interested in booking us or finding out more, drop us a line!
