I am excited that Gail Levinsky is our 17th episode of ๐๐จ๐จ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง: ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ช๐ค ๐๐ข๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด and airs on New Year's Day 2025!
Gail Levinsky started on the violin in the 3rd grade until her teacher made her feel unsafe in the classroom from the way he behaved in front of the class with another student.
While in hindsight it may have been overplayed in her mind, that experience caused her to decide she should play a different instrument and join the band instead of play in the orchestra, at the time. With a brother who played the clarinet 3 years her senior, whom she looked up to, Gail decided that would be her next instrument. Although she didnโt have an instrument of her own, for a long time sharing it with her brother, Gailโs band director discovered that he could ask her to try to play the bass clarinet, the Eb clarinet, and the alto clarinet- because Gail was up for any musical challenge-- before she finally said, โthatโs enoughโ!
Indeed, it was the alto clarinet that brought her to her instrument- the saxophone. (Of course, it was the alto clarinet that did that.) Having attended my alma mater Northwestern University, Gail always acted like a professional in school, having taught privately in the Garland area in Texas for 7 years, before returning to school for advanced degrees. Her career path was really well thought out, albeit, not fully within her control how it would turn out.
From her first job she didnโt dream would be in Mississippi, to her long career as an educator at Susquehanna University, in Pennsylvania, this episode will inspire you to believe if you want to be a musician you can be. Having honored the teachers who inspired her throughout her career, this episode has some wonderful stories of how truly talented students learn from professional musicians while still remaining true to who they are.
Wishing all of our listeners to experience the joy of wind playing, like Gail does, in 2025. ๐ถ ๐ถ

Can you imagine a world without the beautiful sounds of music? Behind every musician is an artisan-- a crafts person who maintains the instrument they play.

In this short video, Amanda Chowning, a clarinet teacher in Ohio, who completed our Clarinet Level 1 and 2 training program, shares how it has helped her community, her career and grown her income.
Many musicians with undergraduate, masters and PhD degrees earn a huge portion of their income teaching private lessons, like Amanda. If more of them can develop into qualified repair technicians, we can helping more people come to play a wind instrument and improve the health in our industry while simultaneously creating more jobs in our industry. Win-Win-Win. ๐ ๐ก ๐ถ
Take a listen and consider investing into our Symphony Campaign before the end of 2024. We seek to train 54 new woodwind repair technicians in the USA.

IAEOU: Vowels are to words what creativity is to business- basic and necessary. It takes a lot of creativity to run a business today and we are here to help.
Our not for profit started as an incubator and accelerator for the creative sector as The Institute for Arts Entrepreneurship.
The IAE developed a two year structured education program to help entrepreneurs improve their thinking and performance abilities in finding new channels to market, new customers and funding success. Our curriculum was academnically studied by several faculty members from the University of Illinois School of Design and recognized as a model for early success by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Association and The White House (Obama Administration).
What we learned from the entrepreneurs who completed our education program, was that we didnโt need a physical location or a structured course to teach them the essence of what they need to succceed in their businesses. It was with the realization that Sana Sells was born as a business to educate and accelerate business owners find the customers, opportunities and funding they need to succeed.
Known for our ability to create innovative education for the entrepreneurial community, we also have completed entrepreneurial education projects for Crowdfund Capital Advisors, The World Bank and International Development Bank.
