Midwest Concert Video

Midwest Concert Video We videotape concerts and theatrical events in the Kansas City and Chicago areas. Midwest Concert Video shoots concert and theatrical events.

We use seven high-definition cameras to cover the entire stage from multiple angles. Audio is captured from the mixing board and multiple audience microphones to be mixed afterwards. Once we have finished shooting the event, all camera angles are synchronized and edited together, selecting the best shot at any moment. To date, we have shot more than 130 concerts by various branches of the School o

f Rock. We will usually have a wide camera capturing the whole stage, a medium camera capturing a smaller portion of the stage, a close-up camera getting the soloist or lead singer, a reverse angle camera capturing backup singers, rhythm guitar, etc. and dedicated drummer and keyboard cameras.

My apologies for the delay in getting the last few Chicago and Oak Park DVDs finished. I just plain burned out. 15 to 16 shows a season is quite a lot, and coupled with declining sales due to nobody wanting physical media any more left me with a bunch of titles that only sold one or two copies, and I had a hard time devoting several evenings to each one, after scrambling every day to make rent.

I will finish all of them. I last shipped the Chicago CBGB show, and am working on the Chicago No Doubt one.

The CBGB discs shipped. I am finishing all of them, slowly but surely.

Back to work on finishing the last of the Oak Park and Chicago Spring season shows. All of the remaining titles have 3 or fewer orders, and while I will finish them they will be finished in order of quantity. Next up is Chicago "CBGB" with three orders, Chicago "Nirvana" with 3, Chicago Jimi Hendrix" with 3, followed by Oak Park "Riot Grrrls" with 2, Oak Park "Comedy Rock" with 2, then Oak Park "AC/DC" with 1, then Chicago "No Doubt" and "Motown" both with 1.

I took time out to record 5 of the 7 AllStars shows, but I'm back at work finishing up the last 4 Oak Park season shows. I just had to share this DrummerCam capture of Izzy drumming to "Just What I Needed" by the Cars, singing along and smiling, doing what she loves:

Here's the Chicago School of Rock Seniors show. It's on YouTube, but "Unlisted" as it's fairly personal to the various graduating seniors. Please feel free to share the link with your family and friends, and thank the families who pooled their funds to hire me to shoot this:

On the road to St Louis again, this time to get to the Old Rock House to record School of Rock AllStars Teams 3 & 4. I've got a Kickstarter to do this tour and travel to Cleveland and Philadelpha as well to record Teams 5, 6 & 7. Sadly, I was not able to travel to Albuquerque to record Team 1 & 2.

If the Kickstarter is successful, I'll put the full shows up on YouTube, as well as making the concert videos available for download.

Please, if you have a son or daughter in the AllStars, if you're a School of Rock parent and have enjoyed the videos Vickie and I have created, or are just a fan of the videos I've put up, please contribute to this Kickstarter. If it doesn't hit the goal, I get nothing other than having learned an expensive lesson. I'm hoping to move to this model for future School of Rock show seasons, as demand for DVDs has dried up - apparently some of the youngest parents have never owned a DVD or BluRay player.

Again, this is only possible with your support. Thank you.

Everywhere I go, I'm editing School of Rock shows, even when getting ready to shoot another show. In this case, it's the Chicago School of Rock "Allman Brothers vs. Lynyrd Skynyrd" show waiting for the sound check to start for Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters.
