Vai Shakoor is a nationally recognized spoken word artist, storyteller, educator, and creative curator who uses poetry as a vehicle for healing, advocacy, and change. Her latest project, Confessions of a Siren Poet: The Wata Saga, has received National Spoken Word Awards nominations for Best Female Spoken Word Artist and Best Spoken Word Album of the Year.

As the founder of Siren Tales Productions and curator of The Confessional Slam, Vai creates intentional spaces where poetry, community, and purpose meet. Across her performances, productions, and apparel, her work centers mental health, sexual assault awareness, and the empowerment and advancement of Black and Brown communities.

If yall wasn't at HOT Sauce Poetry Inspirational Set Chicago/ Richton Park, IL Friday you missed an AMAZING Spoken Word Show from the Open Mic'ers to our Dynamic Features 😁

Spoken Word Poet Sakhary Khy aka "King Khy" who took us on a Journey from song to powerful Spoken Word Piece on being Uncle which brought some people to tears. It was like watching a Poetic Movie.

Spoken Word Poet Mylana Rose aka "Rose" took us back down memory lane with with old school playground games, chants rhymes and had the audience hype in singing along. She spit heart felt testimonies that moved and inspired the crowd while getting a standing ovation.
