The Stockyard Institute is an artistic and pedagogical pool in Chicago co-creating with various groups and spaces in the public arts, community initiatives, and pedagogical experiments with an expanding cooperative network both locally and internationally. Through the development of small run publications, exhibitions and programs, public art explorations, teaching forums and curriculum developmen

ts, the Stockyard institute uses the city as a series of sites for creative civic and social engagement. Since our beginning in 1995 in the Back of the Yards in Chicago, we have worked alongside so many different groups and spaces to co-develop projects through the arts and education to provide opportunities and give voice to young artists, teachers, high school students, community residents, senior citizens, elementary school students, graffiti writers, day laborers, musicians, researchers, futurists, activists, poets, foragers, collectives, friends and university students.
