Animation artist and composer return to 150 Media Stream tomorrow, June 4th, for THE PROMISE, a live concert of original chamber music and painted animation! Stop by for two free, public performances at 12pm and 6pm in the lobby of 150 North Riverside Plaza. We look forward to seeing you there!

Anne and Chris created their first project together as Tonal Conversations for 150 Media Stream in 2018. Since then, the artists have gotten married, and Chris’s “Exuberance” album was nominated for a Grammy in 2025. Not only do tomorrow’s performances of THE PROMISE mark 8 years since the couple’s first performance at 150 Media Stream, but tomorrow also happens to be their 4th wedding anniversary! We are honored to be a part of this full-circle moment in their lives, and we invite you to enjoy their artistry with us.

On June 4th, experience a captivating audiovisual concert of chamber music with painted animation on the 150 Media Stream video wall!

Grammy-nominated composer and animation filmmaker bring their artistic collaboration back to 150 Media Stream for “The Promise,” a new project based on their personal relationship. Enjoy the video above, which documents their previous commission for 150 Media Stream, “Tonal Conversations” (2018).

🎶 Listen to “THE PROMISE”…

Artist duo TONAL CONVERSATIONS returns to 150 Media Stream on Thursday, June 4th, for a new audiovisual concert of chamber music and animation by Grammy-nominated composer and animation filmmaker . Please join us in the lobby of 150 N Riverside Plaza for two unmissable performance events at 12pm and 6pm, including an artist talk during the evening event. As always, these events are free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

PERFORMANCE EVENTS on Thursday, June 4th:
12pm - 1pm 30-min performance at 12pm
6pm - 8pm 30-min performances at 6pm and 7pm

“THE PROMISE” is a 6-piece chamber music composition with painted animation, featuring string quartet, piano, and clarinet. The work chronicles a difficult period in the artists’ lives: managing an illness in uncharted territory amidst a global pandemic, the death of a close family member, and a new marriage alight with promise. In their respective art forms, the artist duo explores themes of love, growth, self-forgiveness, and internal commitment, despite the external uncertainty of our times.

Thank you to @000.dette for bringing their Motion Graphics class from SAIC to see a selection of moving image artwork at 150 Media Stream!

Students got to experience Boris Labbé’s ITO MEIKYŪ in virtual reality and on the video wall. They also saw THE CONTINUOUS MONUMENT by and OVERHEARD IN THE UNDERWORLD by and on the video wall. Thank you again!

We’re hosting the opening reception 5:30pm-7:30pm tonight in the lobby of 150 N Riverside Plaza!

Pick up a beautiful festival brochure, enjoy Onion City themed pastries from .bakery, and experience an award-winning artwork in virtual reality! Our media wall will feature an adaptation of the VR artwork, Boris Labbé’s ITO MEIKYŪ, as well as a generative artwork by , THE CONTINUOUS MONUMENT.
