NORTH HILLS, Calif. — A tragic murder-suicide investigation is underway after four members of a family, including a 6-day-old infant and a 2-year-old child, were found shot to death inside a North Hills home on Wednesday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities responded to the 16200 block of Londelius Avenue at approximately 8 p.m. on May 28, 2026, following reports of a shooting at the residence.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered four people dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside the home.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified the victims as 6-day-old Ella Basmajian, 2-year-old Alec Basmajian, 31-year-old Khajag Basmajian, and a woman in her 30s whose identity had not yet been publicly released pending notification of relatives.
Investigators believe the incident was a murder-suicide involving the children’s mother, though authorities have not yet officially confirmed the sequence of events or publicly detailed what may have led up to the deadly shooting.
In the initial stages of the investigation, LAPD officers stated they were not searching for any suspects and classified the case as a confirmed murder-suicide.
Police have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths or whether any warning signs were reported prior to the incident.
Khajag Basmajian was identified by colleagues as a software engineer employed by the financial software company BlackLine.
Following news of the tragedy, BlackLine released a statement expressing condolences over the loss of their employee.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” the company stated. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this devastating situation. Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will not be commenting further.”
Neighbors described the incident as deeply disturbing and heartbreaking for the quiet North Hills community.
Residents gathered outside the neighborhood throughout the evening as investigators worked inside the home.
“It’s just shocking to be in our neighborhood, something that drastic and devastating,” neighbor Undreal Turner said. “It’s sad. Four people lost their lives today.”
Turner also spoke about the importance of supporting struggling parents and families in the community.
“We really need to hone in on our moms, and even dads, just to make sure they’re OK,” Turner said. “Do they need any help? Do they need any assistance? Do they need any support?”
Members of the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team, an all-volunteer organization that assists survivors and families during traumatic events, also responded to the scene to provide emotional support to those impacted.
The investigation into the North Hills murder-suicide remains ongoing.
