After the White Out — A Different Side of Happy Valley 🌫️🏟️

One night, Beaver Stadium is filled with more than 100,000 fans, roaring crowds, and an atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Pennsylvania.

The next night? Silence.

Rain-soaked pavement reflects the surrounding lights as fog settles over the stadium grounds. The crowds have disappeared, the excitement has faded, and Happy Valley takes on an entirely different appearance.

It’s a side of Beaver Stadium that most people never get to experience, especially in the quiet hours of the night.

Sometimes the most unexpected moments offer the most memorable views.

🇺🇸 250 YEARS OF HISTORY | COLD STREAM DAM
📍 Philipsburg, Pennsylvania
📅 October 8, 1776 – October 8, 2026

Imagine standing here exactly 250 years ago today…

The American Revolution was underway. The Declaration of Independence was barely three months old, and the United States was fighting for its future.

But here in the mountains of central Pennsylvania, there was no Philipsburg. No Cold Stream Dam. No reservoir, paved roads, or familiar town landmarks.

Instead, Cold Stream flowed through a largely forested landscape, part of a region with a Native American history stretching back thousands of years.

It wouldn’t be until 1797 that Philipsburg was founded. During the 1800s, Cold Stream would be dammed, creating the lake that generations of local residents would come to know and enjoy.

Fast-forward to October 8, 2026.

Today, 250 years after America’s declaration of independence, we look across a landscape transformed by generations of history, industry, community, and change.

The buildings came. The roads followed. The dam was built, damaged, repaired, and rebuilt.

Yet the water continues to flow through the same Pennsylvania hills.

🌎 Take a look around! This is an interactive 360° aerial photograph of Cold Stream Dam. Tap or click the photo and drag to explore the surrounding landscape from above.

💬 Do you have memories of Cold Stream Dam? Swimming, fishing, family picnics, Heritage Days, or simply enjoying the scenery? Share them below! Every memory is another piece of our local history.
