In 1993 Marian was commissioned by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce to paint the "Land Rush of 1893 Centennial Painting". "STAKING THEIR CLAIM" was reproduced in limited edition prints and note cards. This painting received the Centennial
Award at the Fairview Show of the Arts in 1993.
