For all my art class customers, this is for you. I adore Andrea Nelson for many reason, but this video is all of us - to remind us that you have to start somewhere - it’s ok to be bad at something to be good at it. But you just have to start to learn how the supplies and paints feel and work. So experiment! Okay! It’s okay to make bad art in order to learn to make good art!

Last Sunday I got to be a part of the Cheboygan County Community Foundation / Cheboygan River Studio fundraiser for flood relief. Kati Rosenbaugh from the Palette Knife Gallery and I painted live, donated our finished paintings, and together we raised over $1,000 for the event. We witnessed so many people come to the event for the free flood relief supplies (bleach, rakes, buckets, food, water and more), other people attending the event for the amazing spaghetti dinner, and others came for the entertainment and to bid on auction items. I believe I saw the event raised over $37,000 and the money all stays here in Cheboygan County for those affected by the flooding last month. What a display of community.

Big thanks to Kena Mitchell for leading a needle felting class at the Nola Creative Arts studio last night. I got to take the class too and it was so much fun! I had no idea how much fun it could be to stab and stab pretty pieces of wool into felt over and over. I’m hooked!! She did a great job with our class. Everyone kept saying how much fun it was. Can’t wait for the next one!

This was a great week. Tuesday I got to take the resin pouring class Cris Siegmann taught in my shop. Thursday was Blossoms & Boutiques and while enjoyed Teresa Kott playing live music in the studio a good number of people stopped in the painting mini canvases to take home. And yesterday I had three back to back classes in the studio. A group of Daisies & Brownies brought their moms in to paint Mommy & Me bear paintings, the second class did the same project, then finally it was a Moms Night Out class where we painted bears and northern lights. What a great week! I’m spending Mothers Day relaxing and shopping with my hubby since none of the kids are in town. Happy Mothers Day to all you mamas out there from Nola Creative Arts.
