🥁🌞 An orchestra under the open sky.
Back in 1988, we created a participatory sound installation at Candlestick State Recreation Area in San Francisco. Featuring Sun Gongs, Conga Drums, Drum Seats, and an Earth Drum played with the feet, the 25′ x 25′ site transformed into a space where the landscape became the stage — and the community became the musicians. 🎶

At Sonic Architecture, we make art resonate by designing spaces that invite connection, play, and shared experience.

📞🎶 Can you hear me now?
Our Telephone Tubes connect kids through underground pipes, turning play into discovery. Each paired serpentine tube is color-matched — yellow to yellow, blue to blue, red to red — helping children develop cognitive skills while sparking laughter and connection.

Because at Sonic Architecture, art will always resonate. ✨

🎶👂 Playground or sound lab?
At PS 244 in Brooklyn, our Sounds Carnival installation turned recess into an exploration of music and acoustics. Children could speak through paired Listening Dishes, sending sound into a large underground tank and hearing it reverberate back in surprising ways.

Commissioned by NYC Public Schools, the School Construction Authority, and the Department of Cultural Affairs’ Percent for Art Program — this project proves that play, learning, and design resonate together. ✨

The Saturn Seat at Liberty Science Center was designed specifically for its site in Jersey City, NJ. A stainless steel globe — perforated with a solstice star map from the year 2000 — rises from a circular seating ring. By night, the illuminated globe and constellation pattern appear to float, transforming a walkway into a one-of-a-kind celestial experience.
