Sutherland Construction is a renovation, remodeling and construction company based in Charlotte, Vermont – owned and operated by experienced contractor, Damien Helem. Damien brings an extensive range of construction industry skills, acquired during his experiences and adventures all over the globe, to his home in Vermont. From decorating and carpentry in his native Australia, to working on St Paul
’s Cathedral, the British Museum and the Royal Opera House as an assistant conservator in London, England – Damien’s love of historical buildings is a natural result of years spent living and traveling in Europe. This eclectic combination of experiences makes Sutherland Construction a great candidate for your historical restoration project. His most recent five years stint before moving to Vermont was with a high end residential construction company in Boston. This saw him oversee projects ranging from complete rehabs on downtown Boston historical brownstones to large scale contemporary condo makeovers. From sourcing local materials whenever possible to recycling building waste and reusing building materials, all aspects of responsible environmental building practices are adhered to and in the forefront of our company values. When not working, Damien may be found spending time with his children on Lake Champlain or skiing one of the local mountains.
