No one gets excited to meet with someone that they feel they have disappointed. When you think about hanging out with God, do you entertain thoughts of how long it's been since last time? Do you allow guilt to keep you from His presence? Perhaps you've ignored some instructions recently, and now you're too embarrassed to show up to His invitations to hang out?
Moments like this are all about perspective. If you keep seeing God with a gavel in His hand, you're missing the eternal love He has already shown you. Think about it, if He died for a chance to connect with you, at a time when you didn't even know or care about Him, has He now run out of love now that He has you? Of course not! He's not a man!! There is no flakiness, darkness, or instability in Him (James 1:17). He is beyond patient (Exodus 34:6).
Refuse to see God the way you see humans. He is in a class all by Himself and cannot be compared to anyone. Instead of feeling guilty, change your perspective. God loves you so much. He has numbered your strands of hair. He has written over 66 books to tell you all about himself. He took the time to make you unique, ensuring there never has been and never will be another you. He even went to the cross for just a chance that you would accept His love one day. Perhaps you should feel silly for not responding to Him, but not guilty. There is entirely too much love flowing from Him to you. There is no fear in love (1 John 4:18). Respond to His love.
