Kathak students of Seema Viswanath performed as a part of “Mahishasura Mardini” dance drama directed by Supriya Desai on the occasion of “Ganesha Utsava” conducted by Sampige Triangle Kannada association. Thanks to Supriya ji for having us as a part of the show. Kids enjoyed learning about dance drama and to perform. Looking forward to many more.

We are very happy to share this beautiful thought what Guru.Smt.Leela Samson , Spanda Dance Company talking about "Ranga Pravesha/Arrangetram" and different options to do it in a very simple way and to keep the art as the focus.

We are very blessed to know this path through our teacher Smt. Nandini Eswer, Raasavrunda school of dance, Mysore who still does it conducts Ranga Pravesha in the temple or in it's simplest way. We are very grateful to follow this footsteps through our very first Ranga Pravesha here in North Carolina, USA.

Glimpse of our very first “Ranga Pravesha” in SKVNC temple by Amrita. It was absolutely serene and divine to conduct “Ranga Pravesha”’in the most simple and meaningful way. Thanks to Smt.Nandini Eswer (Nanda aunty) RAASAVRUNDA SCHOOL OF DANCE for guiding us in this path.

Devasthāna Mārga — A Journey to the Divine

The concept behind Amrita Lokesh’s Ranga Pravesha was inspired by the legendary Smt. Balasaraswati’s beautiful idea of “Devasthāna Mārga” — experiencing the Bharatanatyam repertoire as a devotee’s journey through a temple.

Entering through the Gopuram, walking through the Prākāra, approaching the sanctum, receiving darśana of the deity, pouring out the emotions that arise from that divine experience, and finally leaving with a heart full of joy, each stage reflected through the repertoire.

For Amrita and the orchestra, performing this two-hour journey in the sacred surroundings of Shri Krishna Vrundavana, NC, so close to the deity, was a deeply moving and fulfilling experience.

It was not just a performance.

It was a journey.
It was an offering.
It was Darśana. 🙏🏽🌸

Does a Ranga Pravesha have to be grand?

Last Friday and Sunday, Nritya Māyānanda was blessed to present its very first "Ranga Pravesha" and "Rangārohana" for our dear student Amrita Lokesh.

And for us, it was about something much deeper than a stage performance, it was about the offering.

Bharatanatyam has its roots in the temple tradition, a dance offered to the Divine through years of discipline, devotion, and sādhana. At its heart, Ranga Pravesha is a dancer stepping forward to offer what she has learned and prepared.

Over time, Arangetrams have evolved into beautiful, elaborate stage productions. They can be wonderful celebrations when families choose them.

But do they have to be?

We believe they don't.

A Ranga Pravesha can be as simple as a dancer going to a temple and offering her dance to God.

No elaborate production.
No pressure to spend beyond one's means.
No expectation that every family must create a grand event.

Just the dancer, her sādhana, her art, and her offering. 🙏🏽

At Nritya Māyānanda, we want to create a path where Ranga Pravesha remains meaningful, traditional, and accessible especially for families with multiple children, single-income households, or families who simply want to keep the focus on the art.

The stage concert can be an add-on.
The offering is the essence.

Our hope is to bring the focus back to:

🌿 Sādhana — the years of dedicated practice
🌿 Tayāri — preparation and readiness
🌿 Bhakti — the connection with the Divine
🌿 Parampara — staying connected to tradition
🌿 Learning — because Ranga Pravesha is not an ending, but a new beginning

I am deeply grateful to my teacher Smt. Nandini Eswer (Nanda Aunty) for giving me this understanding and for teaching me that the value of this art lies far beyond the stage.

My heartfelt gratitude to Shri Ajay Warriar, Shri Ranga Rao, Shri Partha Aji, Smt. Gowri Srinivas, and Shri Pranav Manjunath for being part of this beautiful journey. Working with you all is always enriching. ❤️
