This July, we dance Konkoba – a rhythm rooted in agricultural traditions. Traditionally danced to honor the harvest, Konkoba is energetic, grounded, and deeply connected to the earth and community.

As summer reaches its peak, we honor the land, the labor, and the joy of abundance through this dynamic and powerful dance.

About Ismael:
Born in Guinea, West Africa, to a long line of Griots, Ismael is a master dancer, singer, and choreographer who carries the rich history of his ancestors through every movement and note. He began dancing professionally at age 12, was recruited by Les Percussions de Guinée, and later joined the National Dance Company of Guinea, Ballets Africains. He’s a Broadway veteran with a principal role in the hit production Fela! and has even shared the studio with Beyoncé, adding his vocals to her hit “Grown Woman”.
