Steven, know son that I'm sending out 10-14 emails and letters daily and making every attempt possible to get you your freedom. I'm sending the letter I received back from Governor Roy Cooper and will start sending you all correspondence that I get back from all petitioners in your case. I'm working harder for your freedom today than I've worked in the past 20 years because 24 years is overkill.

Know that every minute of every day I'm devoting my life to your release. Time is of the essence and my days are numbered, I want us to spend as much time together as possible. I know that God has heard my prayers and in his time will open those prison doors for you. Continue your journey through prayer and meditation, you will receive consolation, solace, and strength through and from God himself.

I'm contacting the major media next week channel 3 WBTV, 9, WSOC TV and Channel 36 WRET all here in Charlotte as well as those in Raleigh and Durham NC. You, indeed are a strong man of faith and that I'm very proud of. Please let me know what I can send you and I'll do so immediately. I love you. dad

" A Fathers' Plea "

Governor Cooper, my son Steven Saunders has been imprisoned for Twenty Four Years for a crime that I don't contest, either his innocence or guilt. But Mr. Cooper, imagine if he was your son and has spent 24 years locked up not for murder but a s*x offense; not r**e. I've tried for the past 22 years to get anyone to listen but I neither receive a callback or response.

I can't even find out Why he has not been granted so much as a parole hearing even after Twenty years let alone Twenty Four Years. I'm a 74 year young senior and have never experienced. These are the frustrations I have with the Penal System in this country. I understand the infractions he's committed in the past decade or so but he's vocal-like me his father. We both speak out against injustices Period.

We both understand the things and treatment that are dispensed against those who rock the boat, they are targeted by the offenders and the system. I'm Not claiming racism but we both know exactly how Justice has worked, is working what seems to be in perpetuity against the black race. I'm simply appealing to your humanity and paternal emotions if indeed this were Your son. I'm extremely wearied and enervated to the point of total collapse. The only strength and rejuvenation come from God and my undying Faith that my son and I will be able to spend time together as father and son before my time is up.

This battle has indeed lasted a quarter of a century and I believe wholeheartedly that 95% of my peers would have long ago abandoned the effort in the face of such insurmountable odds. I can't do that as he is the flesh of my flesh and the bones of my bones. If you're unable to do anything else, please intervene and have the parole board to at least contact me. Imagine if this were your son what would you do and how would you feel?. The Parole Board, the warden and the Prison review board simply stopped answering my email and letters. This by far has been one of the most frustrating efforts of my entire life. Our system is mucked up Full Stop. This man has been in prison for the past 23 years of \his and my life.

They let murderers out after 7 and the question of guilt or innocence is not the issue. He has paid his dues many times over and should at least get a Parole Hearing Period. Please forward this to the world and help me get a parole hearing for my son...please

I have been working tirelessly for the past three years to win my son's freedom from this legalized plantation AKA Prison. He was due for a parole hearing after 20 years. No one will answer my mail or questions as far as why this has not happened. He is like tens of thousand other black men in this country being held indefinitely.

Just imagine if it were "your" son and he'd been locked up for over 23 years. Please sign this petition and send it to as many as humanly possible. This is not the first administration who supports mass incarceration for profits. You see when the government contracted these private prisons, they knew full well of the billions of taxpayers dollars that would fund them and the massive campaign contributions they would receive.This is evil at it's finest. Please support my efforts to simply get him a hearing for parole. thank you

You know I've been to Africa four times and finally understand the concept of "It takes a Village to raise a Child". I see it so clearly when I see the many tribes who practice one narrative; as Akhenaten decreed the concept of "one God" and eliminating the many gods worshiped during his reign.

It is the same tradition /custom still in practice today. The only difference is when Africans apply the concept of "one family" it simply means that if a child does wrong in the presence of the village, they are reprimanded even punished by any of the villagers. Can you imagine the ties and bonds we as African Amerikkkans would have if a child felt the love by many as opposed to just 2 parents.
