It’s the little things that help build a healthy space for your home, children, and relationships. - Ep 181 - How To Keep The Fire Hot

God gave YOU 🫵🏾 …. the talent, the vision, the calling, the urge …. Not your family, not your friends, or coworkers. Walk in your gifts and watch how the right people gravitate towards you and notice once your closest people seen signs of safety manifesting they end up getting onboard as well. Your people just want to see you be ok … it’s not always hate. 💯

If you’re code switching in 2026, you’re cooked!

Using industry language, incorporating industry norms for dress, and knowing how to move in a room isn’t code switching. It’s being human and being prepared.

Code switching, to me, suggests you haven’t fully reconciled who you are and the space you’re entering; so you default to whatever the dominant culture of that space expects.

For the high school students in this room, my goal isn’t to get them to “switch”. It’s for them to recognize and reconcile. To understand yourself clearly, then build the awareness and skills to move in any room without losing what makes you different because what makes you different makes you powerful.

Hanging out at - west and being on the board for consistently provides opportunities to pour into Charlotte’s youth. There’s a lot of talk about what they need, what they do and don’t have, but one things for sure there are MANY of them who are doing their best to navigate and change their circumstances.

We have a duty and more resources than ever to help them and while we could definitely use more across the city; It’s just a matter of will we make it a priority to do so.

This next set of clips comes from a panel talking to a group of students in an Entrepreneurship class from Harding University High School. They deeply engaged and asked some super deep questions which 1. Gave me some insight into what they’re thinking about and 2 Gave me a sense of hope.

Print your work! 🖨️

In a world where everyone is presenting off a screen, walking into a room with a physical portfolio is a cheat code especially in visual mediums. It shows confidence. It creates a tactile experience nobody else in the room is offering. And it forces YOU to look at your work differently.

Your portfolio isn’t a museum of everything you’ve ever made. It’s a curated argument for why YOU are the right fit for THIS opportunity.

I told the Digital Arts students at the MACC panel — before you send your portfolio anywhere, ask yourself: does this work speak directly to what they’re looking for? If not, edit it.

Show them what they need to see, not just what you’re proud of.

One of the questions that comes up ALL THE TIME! How do you stay true to your style when a client has their own vision?

I broke this down for the Digital Arts students at the MACC panel and the answer is: your style isn’t a filter you slap on everything. It’s a foundation. The way you problem-solve, your eye for composition, how you communicate visually shows up regardless of the brief.

The goal isn’t to make every project look like you. It’s to bring YOUR lens to someone else’s story.

Poured into some of the city’s young creatives last month. Going to be dropping a few clips from this dope conversation ✨

I was part of a Creative Entrepreneur Panel for students from Ballantyne Ridge, Julius Chambers & Mallard Creek speaking directly with the Digital Arts cohort as part of the MACC program with at - westside location.

MACC (Mentorship & Apprenticeship for Creative Careers) connects high school students with working artists and creatives to develop real portfolios, build professional identity, and step inside the industry they’re heading into.
