What a night at Corks for a Cause! 🍷

The FocalGroove team was proud to be part of The Open Door House’s annual fundraiser at Green Leaf Farms last night. It was an evening full of generosity and connection, with a whole community showing up for young adults who deserve a real shot at independence.

Here’s why it matters. Every year, more than 500 young adults age out of foster care in North Carolina, and about 100 of them become homeless right away. The Open Door House stands in that gap. Their residential program gives young adults ages 18 to 21 a safe home, a caring community, and hands-on support with education, careers, finances, and wellness. They don’t just provide housing. They help residents build futures they can call their own.

Right now they can serve four residents at a time, and they get more referrals each month than they have room for. That’s what the “Opening Doors, Building Futures” campaign is all about: a $6M, six-year plan to grow from 4 young adults to 26. Phase One renovates a duplex into homes for six more residents, plus an Education and Enrichment space for coaching, life skills, and mentoring.

We had the privilege of producing the campaign video that premiered last night, and spending time with this team, their volunteers, and their supporters reminded us of something Kathy Lista and her team say often: love makes the difference.

Concord AI Lab is a monthly Lunch & Learn for people who want to go beyond talking about AI and actually build with it.

Bring your lunch, your laptop, and whatever you’re experimenting with. We’ll dig into AI agents, automation workflows, A2A integrations, prompting, no-code/low-code tools, and the inevitable “why isn’t this working?” moments that are easier to solve together.

Expect live demos, screen sharing, project troubleshooting, and plenty of idea swapping with local developers, marketers, creatives, founders, and automation nerds.

Your content is often doing the selling before you ever get on the call.

Someone finds your business, checks your website, scrolls your social media, watches a few videos, maybe listens to a podcast episode — and they are already forming an opinion.

Do you understand their problem?
Do you know what you’re talking about?
Do they trust you enough to take the next step?

That is why good content matters.

A strong podcast episode can answer questions before they are asked.
A client story can build confidence.
A thoughtful video can show your expertise without feeling like a sales pitch.

And the best part? That content keeps working long after you post it.

Create content people can find today, next month, or six months from now — and still walk away thinking, “These are the people I want to work with.”

Create once. Build trust repeatedly.

Hey, Shrop! 👋🎙️

Do you need a co-host to start a podcast? Not necessarily.

A co-host can bring a different perspective, extra energy, and a new dynamic to the conversation — but if you’re comfortable carrying the conversation on your own, there’s nothing wrong with going solo.

Welcome to our new Hey, Shrop! series, where we’re asking Shrop the questions we hear all the time about podcasting, content creation, and getting behind the mic.

Got a question for Shrop? Drop it in the comments 👇 It might be next. 🎥🎙️

Nothing brings a team together quite like seeing “Invoice Paid” before the follow-up email even gets drafted. 😂

To the clients who pay the next day: you’re the real MVPs. 🫶

The Groove Studio Winston-Salem launch was everything we hoped it would be — a room full of incredible people, great conversations, new ideas, and so much excitement around what this space can become.

And truly, none of it happens without the people behind it.

Sara, thank you for helping guide the bigger picture across Flywheel and for supporting this partnership from the start.

Becca, thank you for being such an incredible partner on the ground in Winston-Salem. From the logistics to the little details, you helped make the entire night — and the studio itself — feel effortless.

Peter, thank you for believing in the vision, continuing to dream up new ways this space can serve the community, and for being such a creative partner along the way.

Bayo and Shrop, thank you for continuing to build, experiment, and turn big ideas into real spaces where people can create and connect.

And to everyone who came out to celebrate with us: thank you. Thank you for touring the studio, sharing your ideas, asking questions, meeting new people, and helping us officially welcome The Groove Studio to Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem, the doors are open. The mics are on. And we can’t wait to see what gets created here. 🎙️💛
