Five years ago in the aftermath in the uprisings around Breonna Taylor and George Floyd, I along with Donté K. Hayes were asked to design two murals that spoke to the moment. Our main objectives were that these murals were not and could not be enough to address the material concerns of Black people, therefore we wanted them to serve as constant reminders of the work to be done rather than purely aesthetic blips. All the thanks in the world to artist Jill WellsArt for bringing these ideas to life and Public Space One for all their support.

My Dad told me that late one night my granddad was driving home from seeing my grandmother who he was counting at the time when a large tree fell in the middle of the road blocking his path. He got out the car to take a look. As he was viewing the tree it suddenly began to crawl like a snake into the woods to never be seen again.
