Welcome to the when estrogen begins to rise as your body prepares for ovulation.

This is also a good time to introduce : paying attention to where you are in your and adjusting things like movement, nutrition, work, and rest according to how your body feels.

You might feel more energetic, focused, motivated, or ready for more movement during this phase. Or you might not, and that's okay too! Look out for what I try to do in the next post...

You've also probably heard of cycle syncing. It's simply the idea of adjusting your nutrition, exercise, and self-care to match where you are in your menstrual cycle. During the menstrual phase, that often means prioritizing rest, hydration, and replenishing nutrients like iron.

We completely missed the email.

A few weeks ago, FlowReady received a nomination for the REDVOCATE Menstrual Hygiene Champion Award 2026 from the International Menstrual Hygiene Coalition. We were genuinely honored just to be nominated.

Then, while catching up on emails this week, we discovered something we hadn't realized...

We had won.

Sometimes, when you're immersed in the day-to-day work—planning radio shows, visiting schools, writing educational materials, fundraising, and supporting girls—you don't always stop to look up. This time, we looked up a little late.

We're deeply grateful to the International Menstrual Hygiene Coalition for recognizing FlowReady's work to advance menstrual health, dignity, and opportunities for girls and women.

This recognition means even more because we are still a young organization. Just over two years into this journey, we're encouraged to see our work resonating beyond the communities we serve.

At FlowReady, we believe a girl's first period should mark the beginning of understanding and confidence, not the end of childhood. By preparing girls before menarche, we're working to keep them in school, challenge harmful myths, and help ensure that menstruation never limits a girl's future.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in us, our board, volunteers, staff, partners, donors, and the communities that welcome us into their schools and villages. This recognition belongs to all of you.

Here's to continuing the work.
