Six years ago, we had an idea.

What we didn’t know was how many women would trust us with their time. Their resources. Their energy. Their talent. Their intellectual property. Their names. Their home bars. Their reputations.

We didn’t know how many women would say yes to building something with us before there was six years of history to point to.

And we certainly didn’t know what that trust would become.

Six years later, the Battle of the Babes Cocktail Competition is doing exactly what we hoped this industry could do when women are given the resources, visibility, relationships, and room to thrive.

We are accelerating careers.

We are creating new opportunities.

We are connecting women to brands, bars, media, mentorship, and each other.

We are pouring resources back into the hospitality industry and into the community that continues to pour into us.

And we are helping build the cultural cocktail community that Charlotte deserves.

The cocktails have always been part of it.

But this was never just about cocktails.

It was about what could happen when women in hospitality were given a platform worthy of what they bring to the table.

Six years later, we know the answer.

Charlotte’s most anticipated evening celebrating Black women returns for one final chapter. 🖤

BLK Girl BLK Dress: Chapter III — The Finale is more than a dinner party. It is the closing chapter of a tradition built around elegance, joy, intentional connection, and the belief that Black women deserve beautiful things.

To be part of this experience three years running has meant watching an idea become a tradition and a tradition become a legacy. We’ve had the privilege of pouring into a space intentionally created for Black women to feel celebrated, connected, and cared for.

As we prepare for the final chapter, we’re proud to have been part of the story from year to year and even prouder to raise one final glass to what BLK in Bloom | Connecting Black Women in CLT has built. 🖤

The Battle of the Babes was never created just to see who could make the best cocktail.

It was created because talent deserves a room big enough to be seen.

For six years, we’ve built a platform where mixologists can step outside of their regular shift and show the city what they’re actually capable of creativity, technique, storytelling, hospitality and presence.

And we intentionally built the competition around the people behind the bar.

The home bars receive the recognition.
The brands get to discover new talent.
The industry gets stronger connections.
But the mixologists get something even more important: visibility, opportunity and a stage.

That’s why the competition continues to evolve.

It isn’t about making one great drink.

It’s about creating the kind of room where one great drink can lead to a brand relationship, a new opportunity, a bigger platform, or the next chapter of someone’s career.

Year 6 is the manifestation of the work we’ve been doing all along.

So…what exactly is a cocktail competition? 🍸

It’s not a room full of bartenders making random drinks and hoping someone likes theirs.

It’s a showcase of craft, creativity, technique, storytelling and hospitality.

Each mixologist is given the opportunity to create an original cocktail and present an experience that represents their point of view behind the bar.

The judges are looking beyond whether the cocktail simply “tastes good.”

They’re considering the balance.
The technique.
The presentation.
The creativity.
The story.
And the ex*****on.

But Battle of the Babes takes it one step further.

For us, the competition is the vehicle.

The real purpose is visibility and opportunity.

For six years, Battle of the Babes has created a platform for women in hospitality to showcase their talent, represent their bars, build relationships with brands and industry leaders, and put their work in front of an audience that may have never discovered them otherwise.

The bar gave you a cocktail.

But did it give you a reason? 🍹

That question is the through line of everything the HoCo 2026 Summer Series has been building toward. Both sides of the same industry, one complete picture.

For guests, going out has become a deliberate decision.

You are not spending less. You are spending differently. You skip the average dinners and save it all for the one night that actually delivers. And when you go, you want depth, intention, and a story worth hearing before the first sip.

For operators, the energy of the room is the product.

Your space has to earn across the whole day, not just the dinner rush. And the safe middle is gone. Being decent at everything used to be enough. Pretty good used to be the safe bet in hospitality.

In 2026 it's the fastest way to disappear. 📉

The middle of the restaurant market isn't shrinking. It's collapsing.

The modern diner has become surgically intentional with their spending. Popmenu consumer research shows 68% of diners would rather skip three average meals to afford one high impact dinner. Deloitte's 2025 consumer spending research confirms the mid tier is seeing the steepest decline in customer loyalty scores across the board.

The budget tier is winning on frictionless efficiency. The premium tier is winning on emotion, atmosphere, and felt time.

The middle? Too expensive to be a habit. Not special enough to be a splurge. Pressured from both sides and honestly just forgettable.

The venues thriving right now made one clear decision. They picked a side and built the guest experience around it with intention.

There is no version of winning in the middle anymore.
