For a long time, I thought abundance was something I had to chase.

More opportunities. More certainty. More.

But somewhere along the way, God began gently whispering something unexpected:

“Lori… you ARE abundance.”

Not because of what I possess.
Not because of what I’ve accomplished.
But because I belong to the One who never runs out.

As I painted this basket overflowing with fruit, I couldn’t help but think about how often God fills our lives in quiet, ordinary ways. A table. A window full of morning light. Daily bread. Beauty. Peace. His presence.

Sometimes abundance doesn’t look extravagant.
Sometimes it simply looks like enough...with gratitude.

May this painting be a reminder that God’s goodness is already surrounding you—and that when we learn to receive His gifts with open hands, we begin to see His abundance everywhere.

As I worked on this painting, I was frustrated.

The colors felt muddy. The light wasn’t shining the way I wanted it to.

So I stepped away for a couple of days and prayed, “Abba, show me what this painting needs.”

On the third day, I saw it.

It needed contrast.

The moment I deepened the shadows, the light came alive. The colors became brighter. More luminous.

Isn’t life like that too?

Joy is magnified in sorrow.
Laughter is sweeter after grief.
We live with both shadow and light every day.

We’re often tempted to focus on the darkness around us. But what if embracing both helps us see the light more clearly?

Scripture says that even the darkness is as light to Him.

This piece is called Invitation.

An invitation to cross the threshold into light, shadow, and Presence with the One who loves us more than life itself.

Have you ever dug up a seed to see if it was growing?

I’ve never done it in a garden, but I’ve certainly done it in my faith.

Recently, I rediscovered a quote by Elisabeth Elliot that has been sitting with me all week:

“Don’t dig up in doubt what you planted in faith.”

Faith often begins as something small—a quiet nudge, a whispered prayer, a step of obedience that doesn’t seem significant at the time.

Yet those tiny seeds carry the potential for extraordinary fruit if we continue to nurture them.

The challenge is that growth usually happens beneath the surface.

Long before we see evidence of God’s work, roots are forming in places we cannot see. And when the waiting feels long, we’re tempted to question what we once believed, to dig up the seed and examine whether anything is happening at all.

This new painting, Invitation, was born from that reflection.

An open gate stands before us. Beyond it, a path disappears into the distance. We don’t know where it leads. We can’t see around the bend. We can’t predict what lies ahead.

But the invitation remains.

Will you walk with Him?

Will you trust Him with the journey ahead?

Will you continue forward when the path winds through shadowed forests and dry places?

Sometimes faith isn’t knowing where the road ends.

Sometimes faith is simply stepping through the gate.
