Conversion Dance Project was founded and established by artistic director Crystal Lewis in 2011 while still a graduate student in the dance program at Sam Houston State University. The project was created out of a strong desire for Crystal to create and showcase her own work outside of academia, as well as to have an outlet for continuing to create and nurture her artistic voice post graduate scho

Conversion Dance Project has since evolved into a professional pick-up/project based contemporary modern dance company working with local freelance dance artists committed to creating work that is thought provoking, eclectic, innovative, visually stimulating and emotional stirring. CDP often collaborates with freelance dance artists from multiple locations for the creation of new projects.

Exciting news!
CDP artistic director Crystal Lewis will be the Instructor of Dance guiding the dance program at the Louisiana School for Math Science and Art as well as joining the dance faculty at Northwestern State University. The wonderful journey of this unique position split between both schools begins this fall 2018 semester. So thrilled to join the communities of both schools as well as the city itself! Cheers to many new dance adventures ahead!
