I have the greatest job in the WORLD!! Final performance for my Virginia Run Elementary School K-2 graders! We had such a marvelously big class that we did TWO plays and I gifted each student with a book from the show they were in. As always I could not have done it without my SPECTACULAR Acting Coaches- who I ADORE and are so grateful for!!

Team SSU collectively spent 10 hours delivering 30 green screens and costumes to our campers yesterday! Filming starts TOMORROW morning as week 2 commences- we are SO impressed with the talent of our campers and their eagerness to record vocals, augment props and costumes and be raring to go for 4 hours every day! Prof. Toby and Jeremiah Tyler are proud!

We can’t wait to see this and the rest of our amazing story and songs written in collaboration with our music director Jeremiah Tyler performed by our talented campers!! Camp starts MONDAY! Can’t wait!!!

Well if this isn’t a ringing endorsement for Summer Smash Up’s hit movie musical “STUCK ON THIS ISLAND” musical theatre summer camp in July then I don’t know what is? We are excited to announce Summer Smash-Up’s Movie Musical Camp 2020! For the first time, this year campers will produce our original musical with their friends from the safety of home and the miracle of technology, and turn it into a movie for family and friends to enjoy! Our wonderful actors and singers will come together each day for two fun-filled weeks – to participate in auditions, scene study, choreography, blocking, costume design, acting and improvisation games, music, and singing.

We will have the opportunity to use new technology to record vocals, synch them together into a choir, and finally make it all come together via detailed scene and audio editing to create an amazing product which will be our final performance!

To allow time for all of this, we were able to move our camp back to its original dates July 6-17, with July 20-24 reserved for recordings. By the end of the summer your SSU team will present you with a full-scale original movie musical!

THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

I launched Acting Out with Prof. Toby for my registered students today and we had our first Virtual class! It was outstanding! We danced, we acted, we laughed! I can’t believe how quickly the kids (some as young as 5 ) picked up on the technology! Thanks to those who helped me figure this all out! I really appreciate it! Looking forward to my Thursday class with my 3-6 graders at VRES- and hopefully soon my Wakefield Students! Being able to teach made me feel like myself again and brought me and hopefully my students a lot of joy and some normalcy.
