Nic came by The Local on a beautiful fall afternoon recently and played his song “Out In The Rain” in their back courtyard. His album ‘Near Divine or Merely Rhyme’ is out everywhere now, and the full live performance is up on the Chosen Family YouTube, in bio

Local Waves is an initiative of Wave Farm’s WGXC and Chosen Family, focused on supporting new, local original music. Catch the radio show Thur 10am + Fri 8pm, and free concert series every 2nd Wed at The Local. Artists with new releases are encouraged to send them in to be added to the on-air library at [email protected]

This Sunday 9/27 it’s the return of Music In The Stacks at Hudson Area Library! This free afternoon concert focuses on local artists with folkloric traditions. Fun for the whole family, with children’s activities (courtesy of Elena Valentine Mosley), free refreshments/snacks, and more!

This Saturday! Alela Diane with special guest Alexa Rose in beautiful back room at Unicorn Bar! 7pm doors / 7:30 show, all ages (and Unicorn opens with drinks/food at 5pm) Tickets are getting low, it may sell out

If you’re not familiar with Alela’s music l, but dig alternative Americana songwriting (think Sandy Denny, Fleet Foxes or her old pal Michael Hurley) check her out! She does not get to the east coast very often, so this is a very special one, and even more so because she’ll be with a full band. The excellent new record ‘Who’s Keeping Time’ is out now on fluffandgravyrecords

Additionally, this will be the last show I’m presenting (other than the Local Waves series) until March or April. It’s been a truly rewarding year of shows, and I am so looking forward to bringing more acts that I love to the Hudson Valley next year 🤙🏼

One week (Sat 8/15) til the final concert of the 2026 season at Storm King Art Center, with the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra led by 102 yr old icon Marshall Allen! Plus special guest Ephraim Asili spinning vinyl before the set. Gates open 5pm, come early and explore the sprawled out landscape of wonderful art that is Storm King. Arkestra hit 6:45PM 🚀🪐💫

Food and drink avail onsite. Bring a chair or blanket, comfortable walking shoes, bug spray, and maybe a layer as it does cool off quick after sunset!

Space is the Place! 🚀🪐🌀 We are just under a month away from the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra (Sun Ra Arkestra) under the direction of ‘the maestro’ Marshall Allen (at 102!) at Storm King Art Center Sat 8/15!

There’s been a lot of talk this year about what is American music, and who gets to decide that. For my money, there is no group the last 60+ years who exemplifies the creative beauty of this country more than Sun Ra and the Arkestra. Combining jazz of all sorts (spiritual, free, swing) with avante-garde Afro-Cuban grooves, all while rocking their iconic, Afro-futurist garb, there really is nothing else on this planet (or any others I’m aware of) like em. It’s honor to bring them to the Hudson Valley for the 5th time in 5 years, and hoping you can come celebrate their music in such a special setting as Storm King!

Plus - deep vinyl selections from Ephraim Asili before their set!

Tix are in bio - gates open 5pm, come wander the acres of installations and sculptures, with the Arkestra hitting around 6:45pm. Bring a chair or blanket, Water and snacks are allowed, and there will be food and drink vendors onsite!
