Happy 40th birthday in heaven to America’s favorite hypnotist!!🌹🥳

I first met Kevin Hurley when I was in seventh grade and he was in ninth grade, we were in our inner-city high school’s production of “Hello Dolly!” (legitimately the funniest thing either one of us was ever a part of…) - We quickly became great friends bonding over our love of show business and old hacky jokes. I hung out with Kevin every day pretty much for the next 15 years and worked on his magic and hypnosis show with him. From local proms and amusement park gigs to colleges and clubs, and then onto casinos and theaters I think I was onstage with Kevin for something like 1200+ shows- there was one summer when we were first starting out where we did a long tour of public libraries (when I look back at it these are some of my favorite times.)
“Are you a real magician? Can you really do magic?”
We never really knew how to answer them and we both got a kick out of adults asking us s**t like that but here’s the real answer-
Yes. The magic trick that Kevin did more than any other one that I ever saw was making people happy. Whether it was entertaining a hockey arena full of people or him just talking to you one on one, Kevin was always at the service of the joke, the smile, and of you, the audience. I just don’t laugh that hard anymore.
Another magic trick that Kevin did all the time was bringing together people that seemed like they would have nothing to do with one another if they both didn’t know Kevin. I’m hoping this page can do that. A place to share random photos and stories no matter how big or how small. I would love if everybody who has a photo or story about our buddy Kevin would send it to this account so that I can post it. ❤️

As the 2016, the year that saw the death of Kevin comes to a close I just wanted to try to bring some closure to The Kevin Hurley Show and the page for myself as well as our loyal friends and fans who still reach out everyday. When all was said and done we did something like 1500+ shows over 14 years and performed in over 40 states...I am filled with so much gratitude and I know Kevin was as well so I just wanted to thank the people who made it all possible. I know that Kevin would want to thank his loving parents, Jeanne and Jerry and his sister Megan for the many years of support and love. Tom and Linda and TJ and Mike from The Coo-Coo's Nest. Nick Cecere, Kenny Clifton, Sean Zuza, Jamie Wright, Jeff Gary, Vince Charming and Jordan Beckham for being the best team of talented friends any show ever had. Thank you to Robert Channing from Power Performers, Rich Nikodem and Tim Moyer from GP Entertainment for the years and years of awesome shows and memories. Thank you to Christine Condon and everyone at Naca. Thank you to Michael Dubois, Alain Nu, Joshua Seth, Dale K, Jeff and Tessa Evason, Joe Moorhead and the rest of the rented van gang, we were really stoked and felt like we "made it" when we met you guys, it was an exciting time for The Kevin Hurley Show I'll never forget. I'd like to thank all of the awesome directors and event planners who were so loyal to us (I remember spending like 5 birthdays in a row onstage at Colgate University lol) I'm sorry because Kevin was much better with names and faces than me, if you are reading this, you know who you are and thank you. Lastly I'd like to thank all of the amazing people we had the absolute pleasure of performing for, I think we met some of the best and brightest and hopefully made you smile. Thanks to all of you I got to experience the feeling of driving down the highway with my best friend, leaving a strange town and on our way to the next knowing that we just made friends and believers out of strangers and skeptics with little more than a microphone, a laptop and our wits. I'll always remember Kevin cracking the windows as we drove away from the venue, taking a hit of his cigarette or my blunt, loosening his collar, looking over at me and saying "Good One, Buddy!!" about the show we just did. I'll have that feeling times 100 days a year, times 15 years and I'll take it with me everyday for the rest of my life. Thank You - DJ Daniel Crushwell, The Kevin Hurley Show
