WOW. 🤯❤️

The amount of traffic this page has gotten over the last month has been INCREDIBLE! Thank you for liking, sharing, commenting, tagging friends, and helping us continue to spread Deklyn’s memory and the mission behind this event. ❤️🎯

Now that we've all had a week to recover... we're getting ready for our Wrap-Up & Review Meeting, and WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

What went well? What could have been better? What should we add or change next year? Give us the good, the bad, and the crazy ideas - we want it all! (We listen, and we don't judge 😂)

Because after wrap-up, we start planning...
🎯 THE 10TH ANNUAL DEKLYN DEAN SUMMER SHOOTOUT! 🎯

TEN YEARS deserves something special, and we're ready for some fresh faces and fresh ideas on our committee! You don't have to know darts, be available for everything, or even know where you'd fit yet. If you want to help, we'll find your spot. ❤️

Our current committee has been amazing but I also don't want to run the same people ragged every year. 😂

Help us make the 10th Annual Deklyn Dean Summer Shootout one to remember!

&& then came Sunday.

As I started walking each junior player over to pick out their door prize, get their goody bag, and take their picture with their partner… I remembered.
I remembered why this is my favorite event of the entire weekend.
I remembered why I keep doing this. Why every year I stress myself out. Why I lose sleep. Why I make a million lists, send a million messages, change plans 400 times and quite literally drive myself crazy for a short period of time every summer. 😂

Because this started with one little boy.

A little boy who didn't get the chance to grow up and play sports, make friends, win medals, lose games, be silly with his teammates, eat too much junk food, or stand proudly next to someone he looks up to for a picture.

So every year, we take the love we still have for Deklyn and try to turn it into something good. And Sunday, watching all of those kids, I could actually SEE it. Some were nervous. Some were competitive. Some just wanted to throw darts. Some couldn't wait to find out what prize they got. Some were probably more interested in the snacks. 😂 But they were there. They were making memories. And Deklyn was the reason we were all in that room together. That's the part that gets me...

Because grief doesn't give you your child back. Nothing ever will.

But somehow, year after year, all of you help us take something that hurts and turn it into something that makes kids smile, brings families together, helps organizations in our community and keeps our little boy's name alive.

That's why I keep doing it.

Next year will be our 10TH Deklyn Dean Summer Shootout.

TEN YEARS. ❤️
&&it will be our 5th year inviting our junior players to be part of it.

I don't know exactly what year 10 will look like yet… and please don't ask me because I JUST recovered from year 9. 😂

But I do know this:

Deklyn's name is still being said.
Kids are still smiling because of him.
People are still coming together because of him.

And because all of you continue showing up, supporting us, donating, volunteering, playing and loving our family through this crazy little tournament…

his very short life is still making a difference.

Well… it only took me an entire week to recover enough to make this post. 😂❤️

I basically disappeared from social media but after a week to decompress, catch my breath, and look through all of these pictures… I’m finally ready to wrap up what was an absolutely incredible weekend.

WE RAISED $6,500 FOR BEYOND LIMITS WYOMING! ❤️🎯

Soon, we’ll be meeting with Shannon to officially hand over that check in memory of Deklyn Dean, and I cannot wait.

There are SO many people who made this weekend what it was.

First, Crystal Allgaier, Ron, Emily Phifer, Morgan Pangus, Joe Sena, Charles Sucher and the entire VFW family- THANK YOU. For keeping everyone hydrated all weekend 😂, taking care of us, putting up with the chaos that comes along with this event, being incredible partners year after year, and quite literally saving the day with the bounce house. You guys continually go above and beyond for us, and we appreciate you more than you know.

Wyoming Amusement Darts (Casper) Matt Sebion another huge thank you for continuing to be our biggest partner and for your $1,000 partnership donation again this year. Tom Tysver, thank you for helping us make smart decisions with formats, divisions, payouts, boards and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that most people never even realize goes into running this tournament.
&& maybe most importantly… thank you for changing out the approximately seven million $1 bills everyone shared over the weekend. 😂😂 I don't even want to know how many ones passed through that building.

To everyone who came out to play darts, eat food, hang out, bring the kids, buy raffle tickets, donate, sponsor boards, volunteer, share our posts or simply help spread the word- THANK YOU. This turnout was simply amazing.

To our dart players who travel from near and far to spend the weekend with us, whether you've been coming for years or this was your first Shootout, thank you for showing up. At the end of the day, we can plan every detail in the world, but none of this happens without people walking through those doors and throwing some darts with us. 🎯❤️

Our WYLD Gear cooler package alone raised OVER $1,000! Christina M Quinn and Chris were our winners… and then completely shocked me by giving the cooler back to ME. 😭❤️ That one hit me hard!! That cooler was made in a custom color, custom printed with my son's face on it, and will never be made again. I truly don't know how to put into words what it means that I get to keep it.

Mike, Natasha and Chris Hawkinson- thank you for creating something so incredibly special for this event. Christina and Chris- again, thank you for giving me a gift I will treasure forever.
&& thank you to every single person who bought a ticket and helped turn that cooler into more than $1,000 for Beyond Limits.

Our raffle tables ALSO raised another $1,000! We had some absolutely amazing donations from some amazing people and businesses. I mean… WE HAD A FREAKING KAYAK, GUYS. 😂Congratulations to Silver on that BIG win!! 🛶

And to every single person and business who donated something to those raffle tables- THANK YOU. Every basket, gift card, item and donation added up to that $1,000.

The dunk tank was also an absolute blast. 😂 We had a slight miscommunication with the kiddos that may or may not mean we never get invited to have one again… 🤭🥰 but hopefully we can smooth that one over because watching people get dunked was way too much fun.

Morgan Honeyman with Stingerz- thank you for designing such an AMAZING jersey for us this year and for being there with us! Seeing our new logo turned into something people can actually wear is so freaking cool, and you knocked that design out of the park. ❤️

Allan & Karen Burton Tesch with Bulls R Us- thank you for once again supporting this event, sponsoring us, AND setting up to make sure everyone could get the dart parts and supplies they needed all weekend. You guys have supported us for so long, and we're incredibly lucky to have you as part of this event year after year. 🎯

Inferno Hott Wheelz- thank you for spending Saturday inside the VFW cooking up some seriously delicious food and helping feed this crazy crowd! And an even BIGGER congratulations on that beautiful new grandbaby! 🥰❤️ We are so happy for your family!

And Fun Foods Mike Davenport & Megan Davenport… you guys were incredible! They spent the entire weekend in that parking lot feeding all of us the best fried Oreos and corn dogs we've ever had, collected our Deklyn Dollars, and let the kids walk up and choose whatever treat they wanted with them.

Watching kids proudly hand over their Deklyn Dollars and walk away with giant smiles and treats was one of those little things that made the weekend feel extra special. There were A LOT of very happy, very sugared-up children running around that VFW. 😂❤️ Thank you for your generosity and for jumping into this event with both feet.

And to every single one of our sponsors- whether you sponsored one board, four boards, donated products or services, or found another way to support us- THANK YOU. Seeing all of those names lining our boards all weekend is a reminder of just how many people and businesses continue to believe in what we're doing. I think it is worth mentioning the support we have received from our converse county friends in Glenrock and Douglas- It is so nice to have this event with both communities involved! We found a new in with our Gillette players this year too so we cannot wait to grow that relationship!

For everyone who donated door prizes and money for our junior players- another big THANK YOU! Those things may seem small when you're donating them, but I wish you could see the kids when they get to walk over and pick out THEIR prize. ❤️ You helped make Sunday special for them.

And to my committee & our volunteers- I don't even know where to start. You guys take my crazy ideas, my approximate 700 messages, my last-minute changes, my stress, my lists and my “WAIT, I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING” moments and somehow turn them into an actual event. 😂

Whether you worked registration, raffles, Deklyn's Corner, juniors, sponsorships, pictures, setup, cleanup, helped haul things around, answered one of my 47 questions, or simply jumped in wherever we needed you... THANK YOU! There are people who show up before anyone else gets there and people still helping after everyone else has gone home. There are a million little jobs nobody ever sees.
I may be the crazy person behind a lot of the ideas, but there is absolutely no way I could do this without all of you. ❤️

And to everyone who took pictures, sent me pictures, posted pictures or captured little moments throughout the weekend, thank you. Those are the things we get to keep long after the boards come down and everything gets packed away.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for another incredible Deklyn Dean Summer Shootout. ❤️🎯

$6,500 for Beyond Limits Wyoming. Not bad for a weekend of darts, fried Oreos, raffle tickets, a kayak, a questionable dunk tank situation and approximately seven million one-dollar bills. 😂❤️

We got a bounce house!!

Come on up!

EDIT!! We got a bounce house!!Come on up!*****

Well… this is a post I absolutely did not want to have to make today. 💔

Unfortunately, the bounce house we had planned for Deklyn’s Corner did not show up.

I am honestly devastated. We planned for it, advertised it, and most importantly, we promised it to your kids. I know there were little ones excited about it, and I am so incredibly sorry.

This was completely outside of our control, but that doesn’t make me feel any less awful about it.

We still have Deklyn’s Corner set up with activities for the kids, and our crew is going to do everything we can to make sure they still have a great day. ❤️

Thank you for understanding and for continuing to show up for this event and Deklyn. Today may not be going exactly according to plan, but we’re going to make the best of it. 💙🎯
