Family
When I was young; the word family meant something! Family was special. You protected your family members, you never gave up on them, even if you didn’t agree, when you knew you couldn’t talk them out of it; you had their backs and stood with them in disagreements with others. You took care to not blemish or smear the family name. And you always knew you could count on each other. Your family, like your hometown, is your roots: good or bad, it made you who you are today.
Nowadays it seams so easy for people to turn their backs and walk away from members of the family. To “dis-own” “un-claim” (forsake the hands that fed them) All the while: trying to raise young with love and compassion. They try to instill family into their own children all while pretending they have none of their own!
Sadly enough, it won’t work that way. You teach by example so instead of teaching them that there will always be people in our lives that we love enough to “go to bat for”, or worth “burying the hatchet” and “working through” problems with; you’re merely teaching them how to slam the door and walk away from everyone who doesn’t agree with their mindset. Inevitably they will someday do that to you!
I hope and prey that the youngsters: because they are raised with bits and pieces of a broken family, will realize just how important “family” is, and return mankind to the old ways of “family”.

To the one I lost:

At first I denied the truth. There's no way you are really gone
I wanted to believe it wasn't you. Our time, it can't be done!

No more laughter no more tears, all the memories we've made over the years!

When it hit home I couldn't breath, my chest ached,
my heart hurt. Why wasn't it me?

As miserable as life without you by my side
I wanted to just lay down and die!

But you wouldn't have wanted that
So slowly my days and nights passed

No matter how much I thought it should all end
The sun came up, again and again

I pushed away anything that would make me smile
Feeling like I might betray you all the while

Much time has gone by without your wonderful smile
Life has gotten easier and I now realize

Until I learn to smile and it be true
I won't be allowed to ever join you

So know this my friend. Watching from beyond.
It is for you, not against you that I shall learn to move on.

When I first met Ron Hale, I lived in AZ City and worked long hours in Casa Grande and sometimes I would be too tired to drive. I would pull up into his back yard in that t-bird, and then my little green truck, and sleep. He would eventually walk out there and make me come inside and sleep on the couch instead. He most definately would have my choice if i got to choose my own dad! The man was faithful and loyal to his loved ones. If he loved you, he didn't even have to agree with you, he would be there with you when you needed help. There will probably never be another man with a heart as golden as Ron's was in my mind. I just wish we all could have done a better job of making him realize his own worth before he was gone! Ron Hale, you will be missed immensely! And you will never be forgotten. !!!

WORLD LEADERS
Tis not:
one; man/woman, King/Queen, Ruler/President;
tis not a group, a town, a kingdom, a province or a country that shall rise up and become the great power!
No, in fact it is all the people, the citizens, the ones you think you’ve completely brainwashed, that will rise up as one, no matter what race, region or country we are from.
We will rise up together to save our planet from your childish, greedy, power hungry, self centered, decisions!
So far we have sat back and watched, but as humans, we were a lot more advanced than the barbaric bu****it you are trying to pull! So stop now while you are ahead!

It’s too bad!

I really thought, we had begun to grow
As a nation, as a people, as a planet in whole
We could work together, with one main goal
As countries, we were all in the know
Working together for the well-being of all
I thought we had learned to set our hatreds aside:
the Chauvinistic, prejudice, idiocies alike,
We were working together, all of mankind
With climate, health and science in mind
I thought our youth might have overcome somehow
The hatreds that held previous generations down.
Futures were looking more solid and sound
It seemed for once that peace could be found
My thoughts were wrong wouldn’t ya know,
Because of greed and a need to control.
You who’d rather obliterate a planet, than to just let things go.
Grow up, stop acting like you’re five years old!
It takes us back many decades
When as a people we were uneducated
This is billions of lives you threaten to destroy
With those nukes you plan to deploy
And for what? What do you gain if you win this stupid war?
Taking Lands from others calling it yours - won’t make you loved by more!
You can try Forcing others to obey, but you can’t make their hearts be loyal!

HATERS OF MINE

You sit on your chair, like it’s a throne,
talking about me, and throwing stones,
Acting like you have a reason to hold a grudge,
Like if you are someone with a right to judge.
Let me tell you a thing or two:
you have no basis to say the things you do!
Talking out the side of your mouth.
If you did some research, you’d find out!
It wasn’t you, living my life,
going through my hardships and strife!
You don’t know the hells I have gone through,
if you did you might not feel the way you do.
I don’t pass judgement on you!
It would make me look like an idiot too!
And I didn’t write this poem because I give a damn,
I wrote it because poetry is part of who I am.

Have a nice day.

The birds are chirping, coffee is brewing
It is way too cold outside!
Wish I can climb back into my blanket and hide.
But today is an important one
Many things I need to get done
Tomorrow’s sun will bring everything to life
And that is the first day, of the rest of my life.
Only I can make it a happy one
So off I go, have a good day everyone!

I wrote this in 2005, got it published in 2013. Posted it on this page once, but I’m reposting it now. This is still for my three grown kids. I love you!

Mother's Love

Your heart aches when you think of me, tears fill your eyes so you can’t see.
It’s easier to set my memory aside, than to hurt like this all the time.
I know you hurt, this is true, and I don’t want to be what hurts you.
You’ve told me this makes you feel bad, don’t please, I don’t want you sad.
My mother told me once before she died, and I now know, she was right;
“There’s no stronger a love, than that of a mother for her young,”
The power of a Mother’s love, Is a special gift from the man above,
Mama knows what’s deep in your heart. No matter how long, or far apart.
I will always love you, No matter where I go, or what I do.
Even when you don’t want to understand, I know we’ll see each other again.
As I am in your hearts, you are in mine. I am with you all the time.
Every night when you lay down to sleep, I tuck you in and kiss your cheek.
My love fills the suitcases we put in your hearts, to give you hugs when we’re apart.
I feed you my strength as you drift off to sleep; to help with mountains that may be too steep.
And when you wonder off to cry all alone, Agony cry’s out from within my soul.
You three have all my love, I want you happy, play and have fun.
Nothing can change that your blood is mine, No distance; no amount of time.
You make me proud of you, in all that you do.
So hold your heads up high and smile, knowing I am with you, every mile.

YOU

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Do you see a friend, Or an enemy?
Why do you hate, the one that gazes back at you?
Who else knows you like you do?
You even know the secrets you keep buried within!
Who else has been there through thick and thin?
When your angry, happy, sad, it matters not;
You are the best friend you’ve got!
Take a minute to Think that through.
Now do you still hate you?
Because how are you going to convince the love of your life,
When you can’t stand to look yourself in your eyes?
