We are elated to introduce Donna Shiver, our newest artist. She has a style reminiscent of Classic Impressionism that transcends the boundaries of time and initial thought.
Donna says “Art has been a major influence in my life since I was a young child. Colorings and finger paintings brought me hours of creative joy, but drawing my favorite characters from the newspaper helped me develop an eye for the gestural figure. The use of simple line, shape and the impactful nature of minimal color within a small space was engaging. I was hooked for life.
Portraits, a still life once a week, landscapes, the figure and florals all appeal to me for very different reasons. All teach me something, give me peace and the occasional large headache.
After years of teaching young children, I studied art at Kennesaw State University and graduated with a BFA in art studio. My concentration was drawing and painting, with minors in Art History and Italian.
I work as an artist and Programs Coordinator for the Booth museum. Because I teach classes, I’ve learned to work with various media, including oil, charcoal, acrylic, graphite, ink, watercolor, pastel, ceramics and papermaking processes. My work has been shown across the state of the state of Georgia and has been featured in various artist publications for my landscape and portrait work.”
