We love this beautiful harp and vocal performance of George Shearing & George David Weiss’s jazz classic “Lullaby of Birdland” by the King Cousins featuring Liza (on harp) and Cathy, Jamie, Xan, Tina, Candy & Carolyn. It seems perfect for the last day of spring! What are your plans for the first day of summer?

From Liza: “Playing the harp on Lullabye of Birdland was HARD... and I was young...I think Cousin Lex did the arrangement... My Dad, Alvino, always pushed me to play great harmonies on the harp... I was playing my mom's harp, at the time. I still have it and occasionally rent it to students in Maine...Hope you enjoy this rendition!!🩷 Liza”

Liza Rey is, of course, the daughter of Alvino Rey & Luise King, and she performed some pretty incredible and intricate harp solos in our TV series and specials, and concerts, over the years.

Over the course of her celebrated career, Liza recorded albums, toured with her own quintet, played music festivals and was an accomplished session player on TV, albums and live concerts (including many with her sons Win & Will Butler of the grammy-winning band Arcade Fire).

Hello Friends- As the temperature is getting warmer, we’re getting that almost summer feeling.

Here’s Mitzi and her good friend and “There’s No Business Like Show Business” castmate, Hugh O’Brian, enjoying the poolside sunshine in Palm Springs, California, a favorite getaway for Mitzi over the years.

Incidentally, Howard Manor is known today as the Colony Palms Hotel & Bungalows, and has been beautifully restored.

Hope that you can get out and enjoy the sunshine this summer.

Here’s another concert tour memory! We really enjoyed all of your wonderful comments about where you saw us in concert over the years. And a big welcome to all of the new folks who followed our page.

A few of you mentioned seeing us at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City. We thought we would share this picture of The King Sisters on the boardwalk in front of our marquee for that appearance. It was taken during our summer tour in 1965.

We performed multiple shows throughout the day at the Steel Pier. At the same time the new Beatles movie “Help” was playing at the pier as well. Many of us cousins would go watch the movie between our shows. We all saw it multiple times.

After the tour, we went back to Los Angeles and began season two of our first King Family Show series on ABC.

How many of you watched The King Family Show when it was on originally or have discovered it more recently on our YouTube channel?

It was a a thrilling time for our whole family!

Great memories from the summer of 1965!

Here are King Cousins Carolyn, Ray, Xan, Tina, Cathy and Jamie backstage during our first King Family concert tour.

We're wearing costumes by the great Bob Mackie and holding telephone cords (remember those?) for our performance of "The Telephone Hour" from Bye Bye Birdie.

Can you see Vonnie peeking through behind us? This was our first time in front of concert audiences following the first season of The King Family Show on ABC. We couldn't believe the size of the crowds that came out to see us a across the country. What a thrilling experience for our family.

Sharing some summer memories & fun pictures from our personal photo albums of that summer when we were The Five King Cousins.

After the second season of The King Family Show ended, we were asked to join the cast of a new variety show that would fill the timeslot usually occupied by The Andy Williams Show during the summer. At that time, many networks had what were called summer replacement shows so that viewers could enjoy new programs during the summer after the regular TV season had ended.

This show was titled The Kraft Summer Music Hall, and it was our very first opportunity to appear as our own act separate from the whole family. It was a magical experience.

The Kraft Summer Music Hall was to focus on young performers, and it had the perfect host in John Davidson. We were among an amazing cast of regulars on the series which included George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and two additional musical groups, Jackie & Gayle (who had been part of The New Christy Minstrels), and The Lively Set. Each week different guest stars joined the show including Flip Wilson, Chad and Jeremy, Nancy Sinatra, The Everly Brothers, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Rod McKuen & Gail Garnett. Can you imagine the fun we had?

During that summer Tina was pregnant with her son Volney, so as her belly got a little bigger, our costume designer Ret Turner kept moving the waistline of her costume higher! We’re still amazed at how she handled all of our choreography while she was pregnant.

It was such an amazing way to start our careers!

Here are a few more behind the scenes photos, this time from the first season of the King Family Show on ABC in 1965. Here are boy cousins Rob, Ric and Don rehearsing their performance.

This really fun number is being staged by our amazing choreographer Dee Dee Wood, whom you'll see in some of these pictures.

We were so blessed to work with Dee Dee and her husband Marc Breaux (who served as our show's Director). They had recently choreographed two amazing movie musicals — Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music, WOW!, so it was particularly thrilling for us to work with them. Besides their incredible talent, they were wonderful, creative and collaborative people, too.

Wishing a very happy birthday to the amazing Nancy Sinatra who celebrated her birthday yesterday.
Her incredible body of work, and especially her creative collaboration with her husband, the gifted choreographer and director, Hugh Lambert, is a constant source of inspiration.
Nancy has done so much to keep the legacy of the Great American Songbook alive through her "Nancy For Frank" shows, which thankfully are still being replayed on Siriusly Sinatra.
In recent years, in partnership with Light in the Attic Records her talented daughter Amanda and
she has done incredible work preserving her own recorded legacy — a legacy which is monumental. These new releases are phenomenal and important works of historic preservation - each deserve Grammy recognition. Please check them out and go ahead and support this work with a purchase.
Happy birthday, Nancy Sinatra, and thank you for all of the gifts you've given us by sharing your artistry with the world.

We love this fun behind-the-scenes picture from the taping of our “June with the King Family” TV special. You can see the beautiful Victorian Queen Anne Cottage at the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden behind us. This was taken just before the girl cousins sang a Mother & Daughter medley with the King Sisters.
There are two sets of sisters in this photo, can you name these five King Cousins from left to right?

Happy June! Today at the start of a new month, we're remembering all of the fun we had taping our 1969 TV special, June with the King Family.

Many of our holiday specials were taped on location at wonderful sites around Southern California where we lived. This show was taped at the beautiful Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden in nearby Arcadia. It was great to be in such a gorgeous setting. Over the years, many movies, including Tarzan films, and TV shows such as Fantasy Island and Wonder Woman were filmed there.

This beautiful park remains much the same as it looked when we taped this show all of those years ago. Be sure to visit if you're in California this summer.
How many of you watched this show? It was replayed for 10 years following its original broadcast.
