📯Good citizens of the Cape Girardeau kingdom, lend me your ears for this special Q&A!📯
We've received a great number of messages and emails from excited citizens regarding the Renaissance Faire, and we are so pleased with everyone's enthusiasm and support!
And so, in the interest of answering everyone's most pressing inquiries, I've decided to address them right here. If you have a question about the upcoming festival, always feel free to message us!
Q: "When is the festival going to happen?"
A: We are planning for an early November opening day, most likely the first or second weekend of November 2025, Friday though Sunday. We chose this date to take advantage of the cooler weather which will permit everyone to go all out with their costumes, and to capitalize on the Autumn festive magic that's so loved around that time of year. Placing the faire after Halloween will avoid conflicts with other festivals and events that occur around the Halloween season, and give the public something to look forward to as they wait for Thanksgiving!
Q: "Can I be a vendor at the festival?"
A: We would be most interested! Merchants and vendors of course are a mainstay of any Renaissance Faire, and we will be hosting many vendors on opening day. At the present moment, we are not actively searching for or officiality recruiting vendors, as this stage of the festival's development won't occur for several months, after we have handled some of the more vital logistical aspects of the event. If you wish to sell your wares at the faire please feel free to message us and our Vendor Coordinator Foster will add you to our registry of vendor candidates. Expect recruitment to occur around April of next year!
Q: "Can I be an entertainer?"
A: Same as before, we are not currently seeking out or recruiting any talent yet. You are welcome to message or email us to express your interest in becoming an entertainer and our Entertainment Director Taylor Asberry will take note of your request and we will be reaching out to you when the recruiting phase begins, probably sometime in April of 2025.
Q: "Where will it be?*
A: The Round Table and I are currently scouting possible locations to serve as a venue for the festival. We want to keep it within the city of Cape Girardeau, however areas around Jackson are being looked into as well. We expect to officially announce our selected location sometime in September!
Q: "Can I volunteer?"
A: Of course! Volunteering is a great way to help the festival happen, as well as getting you free admission and other exclusive benefits. Simply message or email us, and we will add you to our list of candidate volunteers. We hope to have you aboard!
Q: "How much for admission?"
A: We have not yet determined a price for admission yet, but expect to see varying prices for different types of tickets such as 1-day passes as opposed to a full-weekend pass. We will consider discounts for military service members, senior citizens, teachers, medical personnel and children under 5. We want to make the faire accessible for all!
Q: "Will there be (X)?"
A: The festival is still in early development, and as such our range of entertainment and activities have not been finalized yet. You can expect games, musical and theatrical performances, and plenty of food as is fitting for a Renaissance Faire! Due to city restrictions among other challenges, we may be unable to aquire large animals such as horses and therefore a jousting tournament might have to wait until future seasons. We are keeping our fingers crossed, however! 🤞🏻
Q: "How can I help?"
A: One of the most important questions there is. If you are like me and wish to see this magical event become reality, we will need everyone's support. One of the best ways to help is by spreading the word - share this page with everyone you know, share our posts, follow our other social media (when it arrives), make sure everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - knows what's brewing up here in our beautiful city. With recognition comes interested parties who are willing to become generous sponsors and donors, supplying the lifeforce needed to hire crews, purchase building materials, pay for advertising, and help us obtain everything we need.
Our fundraising efforts will kick off sometime in October or as early as September, so if you're interested in becoming a generous donor please keep an eye on our page!
And so concludes our special Q&A. If you have a question that wasn't addressed here, please reach out to us either by email at [email protected], or by messaging us. We hope to answer any questions you have. Huzzah, and a good day to you all! ⚔️
Warm tidings,
Joshua Taylor
