This project wasn't for a customer. It was personal, but worth sharing. This last Thursday, I set a memorial. I celebrated an anniversary. Three years.
Three years ago, life was in a dark place. I was struggling with health issues. I was struggling with depression, anxiety, and a mountain of shame. I got to a place where I thought my only way out was to make an exit. I thought it was the best option for my wife, my kids, and to silence the pain. I won't get into all the details in a FB post, but it happened.
And then I got caught...
I went to treatment. The BEST Self Center at Blessing. Roughly 8 weeks. I found help. I found control. I found self worth. I also opened myself to a touch from God.
This week, I set the bench, inscribed with "This is where Grace met Rock Bottom", at Pinecrest Camp and Convention Center. Thank you Dave Yates for allowing me this opportunity.
When I think about then and compare it to now, I'm thankful a friend was thoughtful enough to step in. I'm thankful for the people, the family, the roadblocks, that God put in my way. I'm thankful to still be here!
If you need help, don't hesitate to reach out. Risk the rejection. Risk the disappointment. And yes, even you are worth saving. Your life is worth living.
