"World Theatre Day is aimed at celebrating the beauty, essence, and significance of theatre arts globally....Every year, a World Theatre Day Message is crafted by a different "figure of world stature" and circulated globally. The first World Theatre Day Message was written by Jean Cocteau, a leading artistic figure, in Paris in 1962.
The World Theatre Day Message for 2023 was written by Egyptian actress Samiha Ayoub...."What we do in the world of theatre as playwrights, directors, actors, scenographers, poets, musicians, choreographers and technicians, all of us without exception, is an act of creating life that did not exist before we got on stage," the actress wrote."

Director Wanted: We are in search of a director with a unique and creative vision for our fall musical! While this tried-and-true musical is very funny - with fast action, slapstick comedy, and a great Sondheim score - there some roles, lines and ideas that need to be brought into the 21st century: i.e. Non-traditional casting, gender flexibility, and a contemporary sensibility. So, bring your imagination and creativity - along with a resume to the interview. Sunday, February 26, 6-8pm, and Monday, February 27, 7-9pm. Contact Craig Truax at [email protected] for an appointment.

Closing weekend for "Time Stands Still" this Fri/Sat at 8pm and Sunday matinee at 2pm. miltonplayers.org
Time Stands Still examines the lives of one couple who are journalists and make a living out of documenting the horrors of war. When Sarah and her boyfriend, James, come back from covering the Iraq War, they are physically bruised and emotionally beaten. While they are recovering, their best friend, Richard, brings his new, young girlfriend to visit. Their burgeoning relationship makes James and Sarah examine their own relationship and way of life. Is it possible for two people who are used to living in dangerous conditions to carve out a normal life? Can they stay together amidst unspoken betrayals and conflicting ideals? Acclaimed playwright Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still answers these questions, while leaving unanswered qualms regarding the way America deals with war and tragedy coverage.
The glitz and glamour of backstage theatre! (haha, not). What the "Time Stands Still" actors can see from backstage when the show is over. Closing weekend shows are this Fri and Sat at 8pm and Sunday matinee at 2pm. Nice tables, wine (just at night, not at matinee) and Chex mix round out the show. Hope to see you there!

KEVIN LOWNEY (James Dodd). Time is a funny thing. Kevin hasn’t been on stage in a full-length play in almost three years. It feels like yesterday. It feels like “the norm”. It feels like a lifetime ago. Time changes everything. We count our experiences as existing in time. It’s where we place them, like on a map, though we carry them with us. Thank you for sharing your time today. Kevin would like to thank the incredible (yet credited) cast and crew of “Time Stands Still” as well as the constants in his life, his dear family and friends. You might know Kevin from Walpole Footlighters’ recent 24-Hour Play Festival or their production of “Adrift in Macao” or North River Theater’s production of “One Before 40.” He has also been in the Milton Players productions of “You Can’t Take it with You;” “Vanya and Sonia, and Masha and Spike;” and “Laura.”
