Prototype complete!

This is a concept I've had in my head for a while, and it's finally come to life.

This is just the prototype, so there are still a few things I'll be changing before the final version. For example, I'll likely be switching to more readily available cedar boards instead of the reclaimed red cedar used on this one, and I'll continue refining the design as I go.

The idea is to create handcrafted steel and wood shadow boxes with solar lighting that automatically come to life after dark.

So. what do you think? Is this something you'd be interested in seeing more of? Should I keep pursuing this idea and build a whole collection of different designs?

If you're heading to the North Stonington Fair this week, be sure to stop by and check out my buddy's booth! He's got an awesome selection of handcrafted furs, hides, and other unique items, and he's also helping me out by displaying some of my handcrafted Fenrik Forge metalwork.

If you've been wanting to see my work in person, this is a great opportunity. Even if you're just browsing, swing by, say hello, and support a small business. We really appreciate everyone who stops in and helps keep local makers doing what they love.

What started as a sketch has turned into 30+ handcrafted sconces sitting in my shop waiting for their final paint and finishing.

A good friend has offered to display and sell my work at a couple of upcoming fairs, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity. I'm also hoping to get these into a Renaissance Faire in the near future fingers crossed!

It's exciting (and a little nerve-racking) putting something you've built out into the world, but that's how dreams get started

A good design deserves the right light.

We've been experimenting with different lighting options, and I think we found one that fits the look we were after.

By day, it's a piece of steel artwork.

By night, it comes alive with a warm, flickering glow that gives it the feel of an old lantern.

We're still refining ideas and adding new designs, but I'm excited to share a sneak peek of what's coming out of Fenrik Forge.
