National Pantsuit Day National Pantsuit Day An unmistakable visual declaration of solidarity to ignite a glorious snowball of support for Hillary across America. F*ck yeah, Pantsuits!

THE DETAILS:

WHAT IT IS
On Saturday, October 22nd, in 5+ major cities, an inspired group of men and women will flood the streets to show the world in the most fashionable way we know how; wearing awesome, 90s-fabulous thrift-store ladies

’ pantsuits. WHY WE'RE DOING IT
Throughout Hillary Clinton’s decades-long career, perhaps her most iconic pop-culture contribution has been her fierce loyalty to the well structured, vibrantly colored pantsuit. National Pantsuit Day will exist to celebrate the singular woman behind this no-nonsense ensemble and to show the power of our collective solidarity in the run-up to the election, and the eventual defeat of literal evil. WHY NOW
Polls are showing that as of right now, young people still aren’t inspired to vote. If they don’t vote, we don’t win. So we want to create a sense of momentum and urgency to FOMO them into it. WHY YOU SHOULD COME
You want to start the bandwagon of support, not jump on it. We’re at a critical tipping point, and it’s up to us to push people over the fence. You want to help create a media spectacle. We’re the key to ensuring this party gets the attention it deserves. And like, omgomg you might be on TV. You want Hillary to win. Say you were on the right side of history. In a pantsuit. This will be f*cking fun. Think about how ridiculous and amazing this could be. WHAT'S GOING DOWN
In partnering with Daybreaker, the badass, socially-minded organization responsible for creating a global movement of mindful morning dance parties, NPD went from being just a march in NYC to a full blown national event. F*ck Yeah, Pantsuits! We now have confirmed shindigs in New York and Philadelphia, with details firming up in Dallas and Boston, and more cities being added all the time. If you can't make it to an official event, you can still be a part of it by snapping a pic of you and your friends in your snazziest pantsuits and posting to social media with the hashtag . The other big way you can help is by taking a minute to share the event with all your friends and invite anyone you think cares about this stuff as much as we do!

WHAT TO WEAR
- Pantsuits, obviously. Brightly colored thrift-store pantsuits strongly encouraged.
- Professional attire that would make your mother proud
- Sweet, sweet matching tops/bottoms (matchsets encouraged)
- Hillary gear for days

*** : HELP ALEPPO***
Our original vision for TAT was to provide one, simple, action you can take right now to preserve, strengthen, and grow the policies we believe in here at home. But while really sh*tty things are happening in our own country, this week we've chosen to support the policy of compassion and kindness. We're heartbroken by what's happening in Aleppo, and now's the time we can make the most impact to help these struggling people with one last chance.

▽ ACTION ▽
Donate to the The Compassion Collective to help send a mobile hospital that will arrive in Aleppo THIS WEEK on Christmas Day: https://goo.gl/8AVvPZ

This was started as a love project by some fiercely loving writers in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, they believe there's no such thing as other peoples' children. What they do is incredible, and they want us to be remembered as the generation that chose Love over Fear. THEY HAVE ZERO OVERHEAD. All the money goes directly to the organizations they have vetted and choose to support.

▽ WHAT ELSE YOUR DONATION DOES ▽
1. Purchase and fully equip two ambulances with medicine and medical supplies for 6 months + enabling The White Helmets to rescue children and vulnerable people trapped in the rubble
2. Help the Independent Doctor’s Association fund the planning of the first pediatric hospital in the region
3. Continue to fund the work of the Help Refugees volunteer network, devoted to delivering people to safety...Here's the article on their full plan: https://goo.gl/d8Y0Pg

Happy Holidays, from our hearts to yours.

*** *** SEND 1 EMAIL TO INVESTIGATE TRUMP'S FINANCIAL CONFLICTS

Here's a super-quick task from our favorite writer-and-advocate, Rebecca Solnit: SEND 1 EMAIL to make sure Trump's financial conflicts are investigated. ▽Take Action Details Below ▽

(For background on the investigation go here: http://read.bi/2g6XOmf)

PERSONAL NOTE: We're SO excited to see you all working hard to make a difference. The movement continues to grow, and your efforts are making an undeniable impact everywhere from Standing Rock Indian Reservation to North Carolina. Keep it up!

TAKE ACTION DETAILS:
From Rebecca Solnit:
I just called the office of the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office and spoke with a very nice woman named Miss Mahoney. I told her I was calling in support of U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren's request to audit the President Elect's finances for conflicts of interest. She noted my call. I also asked her what the most effective way to be sure my support counted, and she suggested I email the administrators...
They're tracking people who were urging support for an audit via email, not phone.

The emails are:
- Katherine Siggerud: [email protected]
- Timothy Minelli: [email protected]
- General Email: [email protected]

The text of my email was:
I'm writing in support of Senator Elizabeth Warren's request for an audit of our incoming President Elect's finances, to prohibit conflicts of interest that would prevent him from carrying out the responsibilities of the office without corrupt influence.

Please email all three addresses to voice your support: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

*** : STAND WITH STANDING ROCK***
We're obsessed with the fact that it's ! We're using our time and energy to support protesters. Whether you only have 5 minutes or $5, you can help too.

- What's up: Last week, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in ND halted construction of the $3.7B Dakota Access oil pipeline that would screw up their land. Stopping this would be a huge win for climate change and against racism.

- Time: Got 5 Minutes?
Call or write your representatives, or better yet, call the local offices of North Dakota’s Governor and the Morton County Sheriff. (Scroll down for phone numbers and a suggested script.)

- Money: Got $5?
Purchase much-needed cold weather supplies for the NODAPL protesters via their Amazon wishlist: http://amzn.to/2gRZvJj

- Want to Do More?
Copy and paste this status to share it on your feed with your community, and stay involved via the No Dakota Access Pipeline Global Solidarity Campaign Group and website: http://bit.ly/2fHYj6k

- North Dakota Governor, Jack Dalrymple - (701) 328 2200
- Morton County Sheriff's Office - (701) 667 3330
- Script: Copied from “We’re His Problem Now”:
I’m (YOUR NAME) calling about the 167 water protectors injured by law enforcement at Standing Rock. Attacking the water protectors with hoses in sub-freezing temps is inhumane, cruel, and unacceptable. I want to :
a) Allow water protesters to exercise their right to peaceful assembly/protest.
b) Immediately stop attacking water protectors with tear gas, water cannons, hoses, or other violent means.
c) Refrain from arresting/interfering with peaceful demonstrators.

***TAKE ACTION TUESDAY: MAKE THE CALL***
Last Tuesday we took action by voting for the democracy we wanted.
This Tuesday, and every Tuesday that follows, we’ll take action to proactively protect the democracy we have.

Introducing: . Every week, we’ll provide you with ONE ACTIONABLE ITEM you can do right now to preserve, strengthen, and grow the policies and parties you believe in. Whatever your goals may be for 2017 and beyond, Tuesdays are a great place to start.

This week's : MAKE THE CALL
- CALL your Senators and Representatives in the House and tell them to fight Steve Bannon’s appointment as White House Chief Strategist.
- SHARE this status, say you've taken action, and challenge your friends to do the same.

Here's How:
- To connect with your Senator directly in DC, You can phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A switchboard operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request.
You can find your Representative's phone number here: http://www.house.gov/representatives/
- You will speak to a staff member in their office. Tell them to pass a message to the Senator or Rep, telling them to fight Steve Bannon's appointment as best they can, and at the very least to release a statement condemning his appointment and the "Alt Right" movement.

(For more on exactly how dangerous Bannon is -- whose career has been based entirely on proselytizing and empowering extremely violent, hateful intolerance -- see this profile from Esquire: http://bit.ly/2fde1a9)

And in case you're thinking your phone call can’t make a difference, NPD member Erin suggests we look to one of our more successful opponents, the NRA: "As John Oliver has pointed out... one of the reasons that the NRA is so powerful (despite the fact that they have less members than Planet Fitness) is that they compel their members to constantly contact their government reps."
Here's that clip: http://bit.ly/2fRGBPb

So get going and seize the (Tues)day!

*Look forward to next week's installment of , and sign up to receive your next in your inbox: http://bit.ly/2f1cohZ

We stand for justice, freedom, and vehemently oppose misogyny, racism, and ignorance. Come join us Sunday at 3pm in Thomas Paine Park for an open rehearsal and drumming jam. Bring drums, noise makers, buckets, or just you. All are invited. Wear a pantsuit if you wish. Women will not be suffocated by the moldy yam new president this country elected. Stand up, make noise.

"This loss hurts; but please never stop believing that fighting for what's right is worth it.

It is. It is worth it.

We need you to keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives. And to all the women -- and especially the young women -- who put their faith in this campaign and in me: I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.

Now, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will — and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.

And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
