🌍 A Successful Two-Day Mission in Afar
This week, UNFPA Ethiopia Country Representative Sk Kouame led a two-day field mission across the Afar Region - a visit that went beyond formal meetings and into the heart of the communities UNFPA serves.
Day 1 - Semera
Following the high-level engagement with regional leadership, the team visited Logiya Health Center to assess Maternity Waiting Homes and reproductive health services, reviewing the quality and continuity of care available to women and girls. The day concluded with a visit to the Safe House in Semera, where the team discussed ways to strengthen survivor-centered support.
Day 2 - Awara & Mile Woreda
The team traveled to remote areas to assess the Mobile Health and Nutrition Clinic program, speaking directly with women, girls, service providers and woreda-level officials about implementation progress and operational challenges in reaching pastoralist communities.
The mission concluded with a visit to a The Embassy of Canada to Ethiopia animal fattening Income-Generating Activity initiative in Mile Woreda, where beneficiaries shared how the program is contributing to their livelihoods and household resilience.
UNFPA remains committed to Afar. 💙
