The StillWood ~ Fantasy art by Catherine Swinford In the deep, still wood the trees still whisper to one another. The people believed and their children believed after them, but the world changed.

Once upon a time magic was everywhere, in every dark forest, under every leaf, at the bottom of every pool and pond. There is very little room in the world for magic these days and so it has done what anything does when threatened; it has found places to hide, to sleep, to wait until its dawn comes again.The StillWood is such a place. I deconstructed the book, tea/coffee stained the pages, splattered them with purple and green water colors, and reconstructed the book using h**p twine for binding. On each page I used the unintentional patterns created by the tea and paint splatters to create the sketch. The book chronicles a walk through the enchanted countryside. It is worn and discolored as if lost long ago and then found in the hollow of a tree. UPDATE: Got to visit with my book on June 24th courtesy of Sara and Steven of The Sketchbook Project and the little guy is doing just great! =)
