Harmony Mentoring

Harmony Mentoring HARMONY (Harvard and Radcliffe Musical Outreach to Neighborhood Youth) aims to give all youth in the Cambridge area access to a musical education.

We are a non-profit organization affiliated with Harvard University’s Phillips Brooks House Association. Run exclusively by Harvard undergraduates, HARMONY offers free one-on-one instrumental and vocal lessons to underprivileged students of all ages from schools in the Cambridge area. In addition to helping students cultivate their musical abilities, HARMONY volunteers are committed to fostering self-respect, responsibility, and music appreciation.

WHAT DOES HARMONY DO?

Provide kids grades K-12 with instrumental and voice lessons (weekly, one-on-one for 1 hour on campus).

Program Description
HARMONY aims to give all youth in the Cambridge area access to a musical education. We believe that music enhances growth, as children develop new skills and a new passion. Learning to make music is a great gift that we love to share with the children in our community. HARMONY encourages all children to pursue a musical education and welcomes any interest in our program!

Our Volunteers
HARMONY volunteers dedicate around one hour each week to being the best possible mentor. During their weekly meetings with their mentees, volunteers often begin with technique and with reviewing material from the previous lesson, and then finish off by teaching new material. Mentors and mentees develop a close relationship throughout their semester(s) together and have lots of fun learning from each other.

HOW DO I APPLY?
Fill out this form by Sunday, Sept. 11 @ 11:59 pm.
