We asked our employees to pick five of their favorite pieces in the gallery. And while five seems like a lot, it is no easy task.

Sales Consultant Octavia, has been at Artifacts for 6 years. One of her favorite parts of the Gallery is the diversity of artists we carry. In one corner there’s a man from Lithuania, another from England, and one from just down the road. She says it’s awe-inspiring to see artists who use the exact same medium but in completely different ways all in the same building.

Octavia loves the matte glass cairns by Melanie Leppla, they are unique, and the earth tones really ground each piece. Mulan has always been her favorite Disney movie, and Heather Edwards hyper realism style portrays the character phenomenally. She has always loved Frogman’s owls, and “Wallis” is just a curious guy. Other favorites include, Michelle Allen’s “Batitude” and Susan Hoehns “Eucalyptus at Dusk”.

General Manager, Shelley has been at Artifacts for 31 of its 33 years. It brings Shelley joy when customers take time out of their vacation and spend it with us. Everyone is in a good mood and just wants to have fun. That environment and being around beautiful things everyday, is why Shelley has become the grounding mechanism to our mom and pop shop. That of course and our furry pet friends.

Shelley has some Frogman pieces at home so liking “Aster” comes as no surprise, but the color combination…Well all she says is “Lakers Baby.” Humming birds have always reminded Shelley of her grandmother and Jon Anderson’s polymer clay Hummingbird is truly a masterpiece. Other works she has enjoyed for the color and concept is Phillip Anthony’s “New Beginnings” and Mark Malizia’s “Seagulls at Sunset.” The piece-de-resistance is Matt Buckley’s “Baby Giraffe.” I mean how could you not love him.

New Spiritle Alert 🚨

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, we are proud to introduce “1776” — a new Limited Edition Spiritile celebrating liberty, craftsmanship, and the enduring spirit of American making.

What makes “1776” especially meaningful to Houston is that it marks a FIRST in Houston Llew history. For the first time the glass at the heart of this Spiritile began in our own studio—melted, formed, and brought to life by hand. Handmade in the USA, “1776” honors not only our nation’s 250-year legacy, but the spirit of creativity, independence, and craftsmanship that continues to inspire us every day. “1776” is a Limited Edition Spiritile and will be available to order through Labor Day 2026.

Available to order now, at Artifacts Gallery

FROGMAN is pleased to welcome “Dino” to the Cotterill pond. Finished in a vibrant lime-green multi-tonal patina with bold orange stripes and crisp white markings, “Dino” is designed for either wall display or tabletop. Its distinctive patterning reflect the playful energy, curiosity, and whimsical personality of these remarkable reptiles.

According to National Geographic Society, geckos inhabit every continent except Antarctica. Known for their gravity-defying climbing abilities and naturally protected eyes, these small chatty lizards are packed with extraordinary biological features. A charming addition to the FROGMAN collection, “Dino” is ready to make himself at home in the pond.

We asked our employees to pick five of their favorite pieces in the gallery. And while five seems like a lot, it is no easy task.

Kasady, one of our art consultants, has been here almost 8 years. Kasady thinks it’s great working at a place that he looks forward to being at. The people he works with are considered family, and the nature of the business is thrilling. Getting to see and interact with the art/artists from all over the world is a true privilege.

Kasady has seen many pieces come and go over the years, but there are some more recent ones that have stuck out. Bev Doolittle’s work is amazing! He could stare at “Prayer for the Wild Things” forever, in the constant circle of finding and loosing all those hidden pictures repeatedly. “Reflections and Silhouettes” by Steven McDonald, is a stunning piece that invokes a sense of calm and clarity for Kasady. “Tardis (V5)” by Houston Llew is such a cool and detailed piece. Kasady knows there’s a good home out there for Douglas Feys “Owl”, just look at him. He has only one thing to say about “The High Ground” by PhaseRunner…May the force be with you.

We asked our employees to pick five of their favorite pieces in the gallery. And while five seems like a lot, it is no easy task.

Nicky, one of our managers has been here 29 years. Her favorite thing about Artifacts is seeing people come into the gallery and enjoy themselves. Whether it’s discovering art for the first time or the return customers that visit us year after year. Through the years regulars have become friends, and that is a part of Artifacts that Nicky loves.

She chose these pieces because it reminded her of why she lives here on the California coast. As a lifelong Disney fan, “Battle For Neverland,” featuring Peter Pan and Captain Hook spoke to her. Houston Llew’s spiritiles are a popular collectors item. Nicky felt the quote attached to “Repose;” “As you learn to fly, may you also learn to rest,” held a meaningful message. Other pieces amongst her top five were “Morning Spring Vines” by Susan Hohen, “Break in the Storm” by Erik Abel, and “Keepers of the Coast” by Tim Huhn.
