What is “blue blouse”?

Welcome everyone! We’re very excited about the announcement of this new production company, and it’s taken us some time to do the research to achieve exactly what we want to. The creators of this company are anti-capitalist radical artists. We intend to create art, and thus conversations, to provide a critical eye to social issues.

Cool. Great. Yeah. Whatever. So, you may be asking yourself, what is “Blue Blouse”?

Well, a quick google search will lead you to https://blueblouse.org/, and we feel as though they give a good summary:

“The Blue Blouse (Синяя блуза) theatre troupe were an influential agitprop theatre collective in the Soviet Union, created by Boris Yuzhanin under the auspices of the Moscow Institute of Journalism. They were an important theatre movement, now long forgotten. They thrived between 1923 and 1927, when they merged with the Workers Youth Theatre.
At the time of their disappearance the Blue Blouse movement had 5,000 companies with more than 100,000 members across the Soviet Union.”

Inspired by the movement of revolutionary workers turned artists, Buffalo Blue Blouse seeks to actively criticize capitalism and the entertainment industry as we know it. Our goal is to provoke thought to our audience of working-class people, and maaaaaybe stir the pot within the theater and arts community of Buffalo.

Some news! About art and stuff!

Between months of discussions on a new approach to theater in a world reopening from covid, we’ve decided to not bring Shakespeare in the Bar back to the Alley Cat monthly. However, we do plan on producing about two Shakespeare shows a year, with higher production value and possibly tour to multiple bars (talk to us about booking!)

Shakespeare in the Bar will absorb into a new, larger company called Buffalo Blue Blouse, and we’re working on a whole F*CK TON OF COOL EVENTS regarding the production of radical art. If you’re interested, we’ll be holding a public meeting and you can swing by!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us thus far and go LIKE THAT MOTHER F**KING PAGE FOR UPDATES!!!!!!!! We’ll still be making Shakespeare specific announcements on this page, but there’s about to be so much cool s**t over there. So, like it. Now.

We're very excited about these new developments. If radical art excites you too, or if our past work has given you a new appreciation for the theater arts, we recommend following some of our associate companies in Buffalo's arts scene!
You can find some of our comrades on stage at Post-Industrial Productions, The Subversive Theatre Collective, The New Phoenix Theatre on the Park, Buffalo infringement Festival , Ujima, African American Cultural Center, Green Buffalo Productions, Compass Performing Arts Center, American Repertory Theater of Western New York, Inc.Road Less Traveled Productions, Raíces Theatre Company and Torn Space Theater. We’re sure they’re also working on something delicious.

ALSO SHARE! TELL YOUR FRIENDS! MAKE SOME NOISE! Because facebook won't allow us to boost our post due to pRoFaNitY and to that we say - F**K THEM.
