Minnesota Platypus Studio Hand dyed fiber for small loom weaving Welcome to my studio! I spin hand spin most of my own wool / acrylic / blend yarns.

My craft passions are spinning, weaving, upcycling, and dying :)

My weavings are made from yarns that I have lovingly handspun, hand-dyed, and/or up-cycled.

|My Fibers & My Weaving Process|
Because I do all of this in different steps, usually with no particular weaving in mind, and often combine many yarns in a weaving, I rarely track the exact fiber content of a particular piece. Most of my yar

ns are wool, cotton, acrylic, or a wool/acrylic blend.
* Wool fibers include commercial roving and wool that I have hand processed from raw fleece.
* Cotton fibers are mostly reclaimed yarns (from pre-loved knitwear) that I have hand-dyed
* Acrylic fibers include commercial yarns that have been deconstructed and re-spun in new combinations.
* I also love to experiment and sometimes use other fibers such as commercial alpaca, silk, and other fibers, as well as a wide variety of other reclaimed fibers. I hand dye some of my yarns, using either natural and synthetic dyes, and a variety of methods. Dyeing fiber has lead me to explore dyeing fabric as well. It may seem an unlikely pairing of arts, but what both have in common are unique and unexpected color explorations.

|Please Note|
* I make every effort to photograph my items accurately, I cannot guarantee that the actual color of the artwork are accurately depicted online. Please contact me with any questions about the color or size of any item before purchasing.
* Imperfections are inherent to handmade art, and are part of the character of the style; they not defects.
* My art is made in a smoke-free environment.
* Woven wearable items can generally be handwashed and dried flat.
* Dyed wearable items have been and can be machine washed and tumble dried. I wash my own dyed items with my regular clothing (including whites), but it is possible that an occasional item may transfer color, so consider washing with darker colors the first few times, and removing immediately.
* I only ship within the US. Contact me before ordering if you wish to pick up locally in Buffalo MN.

After almost two years out in the wild ... someone found an error in my sheep pattern ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ So I've made the correction and also taken the opportunity to update the chart format more my newer, easier to read style ๐Ÿ˜Š

It had a couple of different names in different places, and I think I've updated them all now to Bella (I was working at Bella's Flock when I designed a couple of different sheep, and Bella was the name of the owner's mama sheep ... so I wanted to keep the best name with the best chart going forward) ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I also had not woven it again in all that time so did last night โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’œ

Find the updated version of Bella the Sheep in my free double weave collection.

Not so long ago, I stumbled across a photo of a doormat, woven from what looked to be scrap fabric by an artist in the Philippines... and I was obsessed. Before long, it turned into a pile of 13 unique weavings and dozens of how-to photos for 3 versatile weaving patterns: Wonky Gingham, Gentle Waves, and Diamond Link.

When there were certainly other things that I should have been working on in advance if my upcoming trip ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

Anyway, these are NOT charts ... they are step-by-step directions showing 3 ways to displaced warps as you weave on a 3-layer-warped loom (any size). Each set is followed by more inspiration so you can take the techniques in your own direction.

Enjoy!
