My craft passions are spinning, weaving, upcycling, and dying :)
My weavings are made from yarns that I have lovingly handspun, hand-dyed, and/or up-cycled.
|My Fibers & My Weaving Process|
Because I do all of this in different steps, usually with no particular weaving in mind, and often combine many yarns in a weaving, I rarely track the exact fiber content of a particular piece. Most of my yar
ns are wool, cotton, acrylic, or a wool/acrylic blend.
* Wool fibers include commercial roving and wool that I have hand processed from raw fleece.
* Cotton fibers are mostly reclaimed yarns (from pre-loved knitwear) that I have hand-dyed
* Acrylic fibers include commercial yarns that have been deconstructed and re-spun in new combinations.
* I also love to experiment and sometimes use other fibers such as commercial alpaca, silk, and other fibers, as well as a wide variety of other reclaimed fibers. I hand dye some of my yarns, using either natural and synthetic dyes, and a variety of methods. Dyeing fiber has lead me to explore dyeing fabric as well. It may seem an unlikely pairing of arts, but what both have in common are unique and unexpected color explorations.
|Please Note|
* I make every effort to photograph my items accurately, I cannot guarantee that the actual color of the artwork are accurately depicted online. Please contact me with any questions about the color or size of any item before purchasing.
* Imperfections are inherent to handmade art, and are part of the character of the style; they not defects.
* My art is made in a smoke-free environment.
* Woven wearable items can generally be handwashed and dried flat.
* Dyed wearable items have been and can be machine washed and tumble dried. I wash my own dyed items with my regular clothing (including whites), but it is possible that an occasional item may transfer color, so consider washing with darker colors the first few times, and removing immediately.
* I only ship within the US. Contact me before ordering if you wish to pick up locally in Buffalo MN.
