One of the most memorable real traditions shared with the stranded passengers was the “screech-in” ceremony...complete with a shot of screech, a sou’wester hat, and kissing a fresh cod 🐡 to become an honorary Newfoundlander.

Among the cargo on those 38 grounded planes: 19 animals, including two rare bonobo chimpanzees. Local animal caregivers made sure every one of them was looked after. 🐒
