There’s a reason I built my photography business around helping women feel beautiful.
Maybe part of it comes from knowing what it feels like to need that reminder myself… and not always having it.
Women are incredible beings. We carry so much. We love deeply. We take care of everyone around us. We create life. We raise families. We build careers and businesses. We survive things no one else sees. ⬅️
And somehow, through all of that, we can still be so incredibly hard on ourselves.
We pick apart our bodies.
We worry about what other people think.
We tell ourselves we’ll feel beautiful when we lose the weight, when life slows down, when we have more confidence, when we finally feel “good enough.”
But the older I get, the more I look back at younger versions of myself with softer eyes.
I wish I could tell her to stop worrying so much.
To take the picture.
To wear the outfit.
To get in the swimsuit.
To go on the trip.
To laugh louder.
To stop waiting until she felt worthy enough to fully live her own life.
Because one day you’ll look back at the woman you are right now and realize just how beautiful she was… and you’ll wish she had known it too.
Maternity sessions make me think about this even more. There is something so powerful about documenting a woman while her body is literally creating life. A body she may be criticizing is simultaneously doing something absolutely extraordinary.
Women deserve more credit.
But maybe even more importantly, we need to start giving some of that credit to ourselves.
You get one beautiful, messy, imperfect life.
Live it.
Document it.
Be in the pictures.
And please, be a little kinder to the woman looking back at you in the mirror.
Your beauty reminder starts with you. 🤍
